Speed 3 production #s ?

The last 4 numbers can't tell you too much...because the last 4 of my VIN is 8271. Maybe it includes all M3 models...

BTW...The US gets 5000 MS3 this year...not N. America as a whole.

Hmmm (uhm)

my last 4#'s are 7363 and the four before that are 7168 both do not make much sense given that only 5000 to the US, I guess if they counted all Speed3s that were produced maybe. Plus on the Speed Proteges I do not believe the vin identified teh production #

Again....Hmmmm

I personally test drove 0099 and 1445. I bought 1901.

Don't know what to say. I got my MS3 less than a month after they came out. With 8271 at the end, I just don't see a connection to the production number. If they are connected, we clearly don't understand the system at this point. I do know this much -- my VIN came up as a regular Mazda 3s when I talked to the insurance company. They didn't even have any Speed 3s in their DB. This at least tells me that the there is something that all M3s share in common with their VINs.

I wonder if the higher VIN's are Mz3's and the lower numbers are actually the MS3's (boom07)

Well I have a MS3, so wouldn't that be exactly the opposite? (Higher numbers = MS3, mine ends with 8271)

Not to go too off topic, but I was at a Mazda dealer this weekend and the salesman told me two things:

1) While the US was supposed to get 5000 units, only 3500 are here.
2) There is no more MS3; 2007 is the last year you can get one new.

I'm all for chalking it up to a uninformed salesman, but are we absolutely sure a 2008 MS3 will appear? I am entering into the new car market and need to know if I need to be be acting fast if I want a MS3.

i know all this is hearsay but i was informed it was 5000 to north america, 500 of which went to our neighbors to the north. and 12,000 to be built world wide.

i work at a mazda dealership, and i have heard nothing about 2007 being the only production year. more than likely he was creating a sense of urgency so you would buy quickly. buy at your own pace, and go with your instinct.

p.s. i got a black mica gt if you're interested! (im a salesman, what do you expect) :D

There will be 2008 model year Mazdaspeed3's for both US and Canada. No major changes (only very minor things like color availability).

Yeah with hopefully some bugs squashed as well :-)

2008 versions will probably have all the gremlins (CEL's, loose engine mounts etc.) fixed.(gun) At least that's what I'm hoping when I get mine (thumb)

LOL bugs squashed yea right. Lokk at the MKIV vw platform 2000-2004 GTI/Jetta. 4 years to make it right and they still have issues.
Some people get lucky and other don;t have any luck. Then there are the few that cry and whine about everything, because they have nothing better to do with their time............
