Special offers and rebates

Looking at Mazdas inventory lookup(which I must say , seems to be pretty acurate as I have matched it up at dealers) I was curious about a few things.

1) In my search area of about twenty miles there are about ten dealers with an inventory of 79 mazda 5,s.

46 are 2007 (with 31 of them being sport/auto
33 are 2006 (with 24 of them being sport/auto
The rest are spread out with only three standard transmissions in total. (I am looking for an auto, so no big deal)

Question I have, is that the 2006,s do not seem to be moving at all, and mazdas special offers are almost non existant on them. A 1000 rebate if purchased through mazda financing(and most dealers will add to that that the financing must be done at "standard rates"

Do you think that since these "special offers" are all ending at the end of November, there will be more agressive rebates and offers come December. ?

I see quite a few people buying the cx7 or leasing them, but I have never seen an mz5 on the road yet where I am.

When discussing with salesman prices on the 2006 "leftovers" they dont seem to be in any hurry to sell them. They are basically selling them for around 200 less then the 2007 because of the year msrp price increase.

One dealer in particular has 9 2006,s on his lot and has not moved one in two months, but when trying to get a price for a cash purchase(financed through my own credit union) they dont seem as eager to move out the vehicle as I think they should.

Any explanations???

They hate your shoes....try a nice penny loafer. I saved $3K because I also wore black socks.:) :) :)

I think there's a conspiracy against the 5.

I have yet to see a single solitary tv add for one. Even the corp. tv adds show the miata, 6, 3, mpv, and they have been advertising the hell out of the cx7 but no 5.

Why is that?

taking your advice

When out this morning and purchased a pair of penny loafers and black socks.
About to go with the wife to two mazd dealers we havent hit yet, if traffic is not to tied up. LOL
But seriously, I dont know whats up with these mazda dealers. I have purchased quite a bit of vehicles in the last ten years for myself and family members, and it always went easy with a meeting of the minds between salesman and myself. I have purchased new toyotas, acuras, chevrolets, dodge vans as well as jeep.
I have never seen more disinterested salesman then I do at mazda. They are all too busy, reading the paper and eating, and honestly seem like they would rather not make a sale then have to spend ten minutes with you.
Are mazda salesman on some other type of compensation other then commission?
Well I am actually taking a spin to another state and see what happens? There are two mazda dealers there and in inventory all they have is 2006 sports.
They dont seem interested in getting 2007,s I think, because they havent sold their 2006. Maybee they are dealing today? Well see.

when we went to buy our 5, there weren't any sales people on the lot, they were all over at the Ford lot (its a Ford/Maxda dealer). We had to wait about 10 minutes before a saleman bothered to wander across the street to see what we wanted. We test drove and left to think about it. When we came back the next day to buy the car they weren't interested in making a deal even though they were having a big "red tag sales event". We left after their joke of a deal, and went over to the Mazda dealer in the next town and got great service and a good deal (this was about 6-8 months ago).

Well, now that I vaguely know where you live, we shopped three Mazda dealers in northern NJ in 2004 when we bought our MPV. I can't say that there was anything different about them compared with any other dealer I've been to. One of those dealers I definitely thought was much sleazier than the other two, but the other two were perfectly fine.

The 5s are definitely moving, mostly thanks to the $1000 MAC rebate, and aggressive dealer discounting.

the_saint: Mazda said at the introduction of the 5s they would not be running TV and magazine ads about them since the 2006 models would total only 1500 for the States. They are sticking to that and selling them.

As for bad dealers, I have seen many salesmen like you describe and the best thing is to go elsewhere, even to another state. It's no problem, except your local dealer may get back at you with bad service, such as creating problems that never existed and then charging you an arm and a leg to fix them. That happened to me with a Honda dealer, bill was $485! Dealer I bought it from said he was 100% sure the problem did not exist. Told me to have the car trucked to his garage, but a snowstorm prevented that. What the dirty dealer did was change the wiring so the oil light stayed ON, then told me to drive it home and bring it back the next day since it was closing time. You know what an oil light means!? Heh I drove it home and nothing happened. Had a wrecker tow it back to the dealer. Then I took the SOB to court. Got my money back.

One other thing, I had an extended warrenty the insurer refused to pay saying it was either my fault or the dealer's. I never bought another one.

I did not know that. 2007 Models are out now (aren't they?) how come still no ads?

guess they haven't found a way of showing its Hippness... Hard to rival with the Nitro, Element, and the Compass ads... lol. Need to get a regular Joe with an average income, fairly new to parenthood, hardcore motorhead to show all the others like him its ok to start a family and still have a racy side. Something along the lines of you don't have to give it all up for the family. Show the MZ5 towing a lil trailer with a shifter kart and a junior kart headed to the races... hehe. <---------------- That'll be me soon (shocked)
