Spark Plugs

I drive the 2010 MZ3 6sp and heard that changing the spark plugs could slightly (and cheaply) boost HP and overall performance, mpg, etc. I plan on doing other mods as well (just bought the CS SRI and plan on getting the full exhaust soon). My question is if anyone has suggestions on spark plugs (or any other mods - I'm a total newb to cars so even common abbreviations confuse me, but I'm eager to learn and would like to install as much as possible myself or with a couple buddies!)?
