Soon to be mazda6speed owner

I should be able to get a mazda6speed around july and i was wondering what is the main differences between the 06 and 07 model? and should i just try to find an 06 at that time or would it be to hard and is it worth it? also do you think the price for the 07 should drop by that time? One last thing, if someone doesnt mind can someone plz tell me they pay for insurance, or how much i might have to pay, im 17 and ill still be 17 at the time and i still live w/ my parents if u need more info to get a better idea for how much itll be lmk.

P.S.
Is there any links anyone can give me for good write ups for the mazda6speed?

between 06-07 models, PCM ECU reflash (which all 06s can be updated to) and colors have been deleted (whitewater pearl and black cherry mica are no longer available. Leaving black, 2 greys and velocity red). Beyond that, no actual difference besides model years! :p

Insurance is such a crazy variable you cant really guesstimate a quote for yourself based off of others. Best idea - get a VIN # from a speed6 (I can help you with that if necessary) and call your insurance agent to get a quote. It takes 5 minutes to do, so its really worth your time. It will be a true quote and 100% accurate.

Incentives on the vehicles change monthly for Mazda, so theres no real guess as to what rebates and other incentives will be offered in july of 07. I can tell you right now though on 06s theres 4 thousand in rebates and incentives (if you finance through Mazda).

As far as write ups on the vehicle? search the forums to find owner reviews, and also check out Edmunds.com caranddriver.com and roadandtrack.com I know all 3 had articles I just dont have direct links at the moment. Wards also listed the 2.3 liter DISI Turbo as one of the 10 best engines of 2006.

Personally, I love the vehicle and try to drive one every chance I get, yeah its heavier than Im used to (I have an MSP) but that motor just doesnt quit (as long as youre below 6k rpm :p).

good luck! hope you find what you need, if you have any questions let me know!

Thx for that write up it helped quite a bit, ill prob call my insurace company tomm. i was thinking of getting a smoke/dark grey any way so i guess that works out, wish they had blue tho. Also if its my 1st car should i rly have trouble adjusting to the weight, i kno u cant rly answer that cuz it depends on the driver/ how i drive but if u can try thatll help i guess.

Your first car? no you shouldnt have issues to adjusting to it.... Its heavy but nothing out of typical midsized sedan weight...

One question you should ask yourself, is @ 17 are you sure you can handle the car? Its not the fastest car on the road, but it is really powerful for a new driver. Just be careful with it, and take it easy till ya get a feel for the car. Its really easy to speed in which can make it dangerous for some.

What B1GHAM said: its really easy to speed, especially on the interstate. My MS6 has a really bad tendency of wanting to cruise in the 90-110 range, I say this without cracking a smile. In 6th gear at highway speed, it just wants to go...............and I struglle to rein her back.

I love this Car!!!!!!!

Yeah, I actually just took one out to run an errand.... whats funny is klip is exactly right. in 6th gear it wants to stay in the 80-110 range, I was finding myself doing 90 when it felt like I was doing 50-55.

ya i kno its quite a bit of power for a 1st car but im not going to push it for a while if i want to see wat it can do ill jus giv it to my friend who drifts and can handle the power better then me im not gonna try to push it for a while i jus like powerful cars and i don want to buy a car that im goin to get tired of right away and then want another one, if anything i can turn the boost down right?

Never heard of a 17yr old that willingly spent the time and money to make his car slower. If that was really the case, you would be better off just buying a standard Mazda 6. (your ins. won't be cheap either way.) Handing your new car over to someone else to "drift", is a painful lesson just waiting to be learned. Make sure you film the crash for us.. OK?

im not gonna let him drift my car, he drifts his own car and i kno he would b able to handle the power so i would just have him push the car if i wanted to see its true power.

For your first car a new Mazdaspeed6? Especially at 17 isnt a great idea.

Too much power and all that crap aside. Even if you were comfortable with it.

I wouldnt want to drive a brand new car at 17. You will make mistakes, everyone does. Whether that be going too fast, over/under compinsating a turn, not having proper stopping distance... you name it. It WILL happen simply because your learning how to drive. No one is a pro from the start.

It would be a shame and COSTLY to fix this car compared to used/older car.

It will get used and abused. Why not get a used car to learn on. Something that you can beat on a little and not have to worry about every knick and scratch.

In my opinion, its not worth getting this car or any NEW car at 17. Something will happen. Wouldnt it be better to just not worry?

differences

I dont think there is much difference between the '06 and '07 models. I was looking solely for an '06 just because of the rebate increase. I do know that the '06 models come with a 50,000 mile warranty while the '07 only comes with a 30,000. thats a big difference. and if you are only 17, expect to pay a grip on insurance. Its a higher rate cause its a sports car. I have full coverage and i pay 150$ and i'm over 25. and thats a Texas rate. If i were you, i would go with a used '06 with more options rather than a brand new one with less. Good luck finding your car, its a pleasure to drive everyday.

QUESTION: Can you even drift in an all wheel drive car?
been wondering that ever since i saw tokyo drift.
Anyone? Anyone? Beuler? Bueler?

Get what you can afford or what is avaliable.
I'm 16 and I want that car lol.. I've driven a volvo s60r and a legacy gt and those cars match or is faster than a speed6 and I didn't think it was too much..
i kinda want a manual cus my dad has a honda accord 04 v6 240hp automatic and im so used to just gassing it.. and never realizing how fast im going .i need some gears! it may be easy to speed but alteast i always have a guess what speed im at and 270hp AWD sounds good especially for the price.

so i guess if you grew up with fast cars then thats a perfect car. i want it cus it's the cheapest with some sound system and luxury feeling..

off topic but uh.. when i let go of the clutch on a speed6(never driven it.. just looked at it at a dealer) half way its like spring loaded.. why is that? it engages b4 the spring part right? lol.
