So who would've or would like a BMW 1-series instead?

Well my neighbor got his and all I can say is ...... dayum. It spools SO QUICK and is actually faster in the full automatic mode(dont ask me how I know:)) I think it makes more power under the curve than my ms3(without pump) as well.

No chip yet just 7-8 psi ..... lets just say I was surprised.

Actually Dinan already has a EMS tune out for it. For 2g it bumps it to 384 hp and 421 tq (assuming to the crank). Thats a 84 hp / 121 tq increase (evil). You also maintain your complete factory warranty.

BMW 1 series and MS3 couldn't be farther apart :)

Both are fantastic cars, but to compare them is silly. Don't get caught up in which is faster because the BMW was never intended to run @ a drag strip. It is a performance oriented touring car, in the traditional european/german flavor. And there is nothing wrong with that. Different price segment, different buyer demographics, different everything.

ps. The age old rhetoric about if you put X amount of money tuning x car it will stomp car Y is just silly and annoying.

Those in this thread saying the 335 is only slightly faster may be mistaken. Have you even driven one? Or better yet, done some spirited driving with your MS3 and a 335? They are quick, our cars are no match for them. I've driven both the AWD and the RWD many many times. And had my MS3 up againts the RWD. No contest.

it was the same speed in the motortrend best handling car test around the track, within a second. how is that no match?

Keep the Speed 3 and put the price difference in a mutual fund....

The BMW will be slightly faster, less reliable, less fuel efficient, more expensive to insure, etc.

Thanks for serving our country, and best wishes for a trouble free tour!

The 135 is unquestionably a better car in every aspect than the MS3...power, handling, fit and finish, etc. However, it will probably option out at around 40K out the door, making it a silly comparison.

I think if you really want to worry about buyers remorse over the MS3, you should be more concerned about the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. That car will be only a few thousand more than ours, have AWD, a detuned Evo engine, and a slick twin clutch.

Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart

235hp 253lb torque 4x4 might be the same 0-60 as us and the same around the track maybe ,we shall see.You have to see the SUbaru numbers around the track which has 227hp i think but the Mitsu is better around the track, that i know.In any case i havea 5 year payment plan and my car looks better and has the same power as a Mitsu Evo x if not much more torque and i couldn`t care less. Our cars a more easthetically appealing than either manufacturer Sub and Mitsu.

Hell the NEW EVO only runs the 1/4 in 14@100 I doubt the Ralliart with it's "detuned" EVO motor is going to be much of a threat in the acceleration dept. Handling? Perhaps, but I don't think it'll be all that much better than the MS3.

im joining this late, but if I had the money, i would take the 135 over the ms3 in a heartbeat. Sadly, that car will not be in my budget anytime soon, maybe a used one in a few years, but for now I'll have to "settle" of the ms3

bmw announced the Tii kits will be arriving later this year...it will also appear on the newly face lifted 3...and the actual Tii models will start arriving in 2011...the 1, 3, X1, and X3 will get Tii versions...and they will fall under the M series in price...

Hmmmm. 2011 sounds good to me! By then I'll most likely be ready for a new car :)

And then after I buy one of those new bimmers I'll want the next latest and greatest car after about 2-4yrs. The vicious cycle continues...
