So who would've or would like a BMW 1-series instead?

Its all good. But the mods are watching this thread because it could turn into a pissing contest. It seems everytime a new sport compact or a sporting car comes out there are thread after thread that are pissing contest.
Yep that's been the trend lately people are waaaay too defensive.
MS MS3 FTW. comes in at around 30k. The 1series is nice but I'd rather a 3series at that price.
then again I would get an MS6 sport, much less money, and almost fun as a 335i and with the money saved I could MS the thing or get a few bolt on's.

I think he meant if we put 10k more into our cars - so that, in essence, it would cost as much as the 135i - it would embarass it. And indeed it would.

But it's a dumb argument.

I could put $220k into a miata and murder a Lamborghini. I'd still rather have the Lamborghini.

Well the argument isn't entirely dumb... you can buy a speed3 for $24k. Spend $2000 on a CAI and catted turbo back exhaust with a Cobb Access port stage 2 map and kill a 135i for $10 grand less.

I agree if you're going to spend the entire delta to be just as fast then you're better off getting the car you want in the first place, but keeping 10k in your pocket in this example and being faster isn't a bad deal at all

Dude, keep the MS3 and put the extra money into buying a house (if you don't already have one).

Or, buy a nice Harley (thumb)

The suggestion to buy a house is a great one, indeed. The Harley, on the other hand, is probably worse advice than telling someone to piss against the wind.

lol. You have no idea how spot on you are . . . I'm purchasing a suzuki cruiser in a day or two, am keeping the MS3 (going to go with Warranty Direct extended warranty for a good 7 years and 75,000 miles of bumper to bumper comfort), and my wife and I (being in the military) will be applying for on base housing when I return from deployment.

The bike cinched the deal. I decided that'll be my deployment money "splurge". Now all I need is to wait for the deployment money to pay it off . . . . hehehe.

that's a whole 'nother thread for that 'pissing contest' (woo hoo! I made a pun!)

What Suzuki are you going to get? I had an Intruder which is now the Marauder (I think) and shaft drive is pretty nice.

I went with my Sportster because I think the design "defines" a motorcycle. If you have never been a rider before, congrats and be ready to get hooked for life (2thumbs)

The 335i isn't really more fun to drive in my opinion....its just nicer on the inside and has a few more creature comforts. Its only the slightest bit faster (very slight).

Well my neighbor got his and all I can say is ...... dayum. It spools SO QUICK and is actually faster in the full automatic mode(dont ask me how I know:)) I think it makes more power under the curve than my ms3(without pump) as well.

No chip yet just 7-8 psi ..... lets just say I was surprised.

god, i'd be embarrassed to admit that i put $10k into a mazda...lol

I'm getting a C50T (which was formerly the Volusia I think). I'm VERY excited about getting my first bike and I read everywhere that it's a good bike to begin on that I won't outgrow right away. Just bought a used one on Ebay (from a dealer) and I'm going to pick it up later this week.

I hear you, It spools super quick. It also shifts better than my speed and the clutch is lighter. Its just to bad we ran it into a bush yesterday. The next car I buy will be a BMW of some sort.....I'm almost positive.

That's to be excepted out of a car costing like 17-23k more.

+1 on my next car...bmw is also releasing the Tii Kits for the 1 and 3 (2009 facelift)...we'll see later this year...and the actual Tii's will be coming in 2011...the 1,3,X1, and X3 will have Tii versions...(nana)

Those in this thread saying the 335 is only slightly faster may be mistaken. Have you even driven one? Or better yet, done some spirited driving with your MS3 and a 335? They are quick, our cars are no match for them. I've driven both the AWD and the RWD many many times. And had my MS3 up againts the RWD. No contest.

You're right stock for stock. Mazdaspeed3 would need a few bolt-ons as the BMW 335i runs 13.5@104. However, I'm sure some of that .5 tenths is at least partially due to launch advantage RWD. Is the BMW 335i really that much faster than a Mazdaspeed3 from a 45mph roll though? I would imagine a BMW 335i would have quite a hard time walking away from say a MS3 with intake and maybe a test pipe. What is that like $400.00 bucks invested into the MS3? That’s pretty impressive if you ask me. Not taking anything away from the bimmer as it's a fantastic car! Yes I know you can MOD any car but the MS3 has the advantage being something like 18k less from the start.

135i is a nice car,but get it if you can afford one.Out the door you`re talking 38k with all the nice stuff you guys want in it.However 0-60 in 4.7 is fast.
