long story short im very worried... Someone ran into the back of me and moded my hatch and my bumber. the other kids insurance is of course gonna pay for it. but im worried about the paint matching my car perfect. im worried that the black will be a bit off of my black mica... should i bring the concern up with insurance and be like. this is a show car. if the paint job doesnt come out perfect your paying for a full body paint job?

You should be able to choose the shop that does the work. Normally they will match the color to the color that it's going to be painted so that it's an exact match. PPG is the best imo, just get quotes from shops that you want to have the work done at, the shop should be your choice and the only thing the insurance company is going to be concerned about is paying for it.. I don't think they're going to care whether it matches or not, that's not their job. If you find a good paint shop, it will match.

It's not like the factory plastic bumper and steel panels have matching paint to begin with anyway. Find a good reputable paint shop that stands behind their work then let them take care of it. Everything else is beyond your control...just like when someone runs up your butt without you knowing.

lol. j/k good luck man hope everything pans out

i had someone back into my black mica speed3 last summer and smash the front fender. i too was worried about paint matching. when i got the car back i was amazed at what a good job the shop did the car actually looked better than factory bc after painting i had them colorsand the whole thing. the repair looks perfect, and the shop i took it to stands behind their work and throws in a free wax/detail every 2 months for the entire life of the vehicle! make sure you find a good body/ paint shop and the repair will be just fine.
even if the color is not 100% the exact same as the rest of the car (which is probably how it was from the factory lol) they will blend from the roof, fenders, and anywhere else thats near the damaged area. this will blur the lines dramatically between where new and old paint meet. then if they colorsand the whole car, which is not a big deal for them bc they are doing it on the new paint anyway, it will make sure all the paint has an even and smooth finish.
here is a link with b4 and after pics of mine (excuse cell phone pics)

I believe there was a guy parting out a black mica car in the classified and he had a hatch, and maybe a rear bumper too.

Most Insurance companies offer Direct Repair shops that will guarantee the work they do, right down to the paint match. Mazda Black is a hard color to match. There are a lot of yellows and blues in it, when they get the paint from the factory, sometimes they have to add a little bit of blue or yellow to make the paint match properly. Obviously they're not producing all the paint at one time so the shop may have to invest some tint time but if it's a good shop, you shouldn't have any issues.

Good luck
