Whelp, time for a new system, just ordered the parts.

i7 12700k
Asus Z690-P motherboard
32 gigs Corsair Vengeance DDR5
Crucial P3 Plus 4TB M.2 SSD
reusing a couple year old GTX1070 because the performance is still decent. Also reusing my old 4TD HDD for general mass storage.

This should suffice for the next however many years.

Nice. That's the processor I just upgraded to. A very similar Mobo (Z690-P WIFI) and it's excellent, also a much smaller Crucial P4. (500gb). Love Crucial.

Very nice system to upgrade to, and yep, depending on what you use them for, 1070 ought to still be perfectly fine.

Awesome Blooms! Looking good. My Noctua isn't completely silent but I can only hear it running when there's literally no other noise. It is ridiculous how quiet fans are these days.

Been a fan ever since (although I did cheat on them with current rig RAM - first time ever).

Well, I just ordered my video card. An Asus RTX 4070 Ti. Newegg had an open box one for less. Still expensive, but doable for this rig.

Looks great! Doublecheck the fan orientation on the BeQuiet cooler though. It might be blowing the wrong way instead of towards the back. I could be wrong, but just a hunch since its installed upside down. You might have flipped the fan around, not sure. Just thought I'd mention that just in-case.

Yeah they are usually pretty solid like that. I did get some cheap Samsung m.2 drives this round, but I still bought some Crucial SATA SSD's.

Fan is drawing air through the cooler and then blowing it directly out of the back of the case.

And I didn't have a choice on heatsink orientation. The other way around would hit the ram slots.

Is it Single Player?

Not necessarily.
There are certain aircraft like helicopters that are co-op. One pilot, one door gunner.
Also, there are a vast many servers where you're fighting against other humans instead of AI.

Had to pull the video card so I could get the serial number for the warranty registration. While I was in there, I did this. It's still a mess, but it looks better than it did.

So blooms actually did sell me his 1070. Appreciate that, brother! My son does too. That was the last piece we needed to build his machine. Now we just need a desk to put it on...and to actually finish putting it together.

Didn't realize you were selling a card, needed something to try volt modding on.

But actually super happy to hear 7's kid get's to complete a gaming machine. 1070 was a great card.

Water cooling because why not? This is the first high end rig I've built since I got my GeForce 3 Ti500. I just looked it up. 22 years ago. A friggin' lifetime. So yeah, I went all out. It's done now though. No more fussing about. I'm satisfied.

Okay, final final form. Not messing with it all after this, I swear. I added a rear and bottom fan blowing in, in addition to upping the front 120's to 140's, also blowing in. This will give a slight positive pressure inside of the case, which is supposed to cut down on dust intrusion.

Cable management is a pain in the ass, but I do have to admit, it looks nice.
