so i am confused about the output capabilities of these engines...

so i read all the forums on here and what not and i hear all this stuff about how u cant go over 10psi on the stock internals and what not and how u need to do a forged build if u hope to get anywhere near 300WHP. and i went to my local performance shop today and i was told that all i would need to do is replace the head bolts and thats it... and with just doing that i will be able to up the boost well over 10psi on the stock internals. the guy i talked to worked for mazda and he told me strories about the MSP and how the engines can handle a fair amount. i was also told i should be able to get about 300 WHP on the stock internals. now thats just the engine i know i gotta worry about the clutch and LSD and what not.

so im just wondering whats going on here cuz from what he said compared to what i hear on here is WAY different. so who is right?

LOL, the most i heard was around 280ish HP on stock internals..... Be safe, build that s***.

You go ahead and replace the headbolts

If you have him on paper saying that, he'll be the one replacing your motor

Don't get me wrong, not saying it can't be done, but, as already said, be safe and build it

Oh, and should you trust a guy that doesn't own a MSP and doesn't work on one everyday. Or a group of people on a forum that heard it all before? :)

Is this a service tech? Or a salesman? Last week, he was probably telling a guy buying a baseline civic to watchout for the vtec

well he works in a tunner performance shop as a mechanic and he was service tech at mazda i beleive. but i thought what he said sounded to good to be true cuz from what i hear from on the forums here

My local "mazdaspeed" dealer didn't even know what a MSP was and wanted to argue about that that my car didn't come turbo from the factory. You would think since it's a dealership that "specializes" in speeds that they would have knowledge about the car that started it all!! LOL
Did your local "PERFORMANCE" shop mention anything about tuning and EMS when telling you to turn up the boost? Don't go over 10 psi with all the supporting mods and a good solid tune, unless you feel like collecting engine parts off the side of the road!! You do know that 250-280 is the basic max of your tranny as well. I'm sure your guy forgot to mention that s*** as well. When it comes these rare little fuckers, ONLY trust the people that run them!!!! PG, CrossOver....ect!

but i dont know like he seemed like he knew what he was talking about cuz he has built ALOT of engines and worked on ALOT of cars pushing the limits of stock engines. and he said with the correct supporting mods and good management systems u can get about 300WHP out of the stock internals. that doesnt mean sock turbo tho

i wouldn't trust dealer service techs further than i can throw them

I took my car into Mazda and had my intake manifold replaced under recall.

they failed to reattach my coolant lines and let me drive away AFTER they said they already took it for a testdrive to ok everything

I plead the fifth on this one because I have gone much farther on my stock block than most. You can take your chances. From my experience these motors can handle about 250hp safe on stock I termals with all supporting mods.

well ya he did talk about tranny and LSD and all that to but im just talking engine. he said from the stock ENGINE u can get about 300WHP. of cource that requires alot of other mods

That's better Bill....Almost a "warning to viewers" LOL

AND at 300 HP or tannies will go haha :P And if you dont have a welded LSD that will go much quicker haha. But tell that guy to come on here and start telling his "infomation" to us.....

so we can laugh.

Alot of other mods includes forged internals if upping the boost of 10 psi, I would stretch that to 11-12 psi (on a T25) with an extremely good tune and everything working hormoniously (sp?) But why run the risk?

hey do what you want, mine lasted 2 months on 10psi then kaboom... now im building it and tunning it but dont listen to all of us learn the hard way bro!

well when the engine blows from over boosting what exactly is it that blows? is it just the head gasket? or is it actually the postons and rods?

OH, and it seams like some of the MSP out there are magic, they hold more LOL. look at justinlandsdale mod list, and hes over 200HP, its crazy how different out motors can be from each other's haha.

okay well basically i jsut want to make my car faster than SRT4's...... i f***ing hate those cocky ass drivers and i wana put them in their place. so would i be able to accomplish that on stock internals do u guys think? so i recon about 240whp??
