Snow Tires - will 225/50/16 be a problem?

We've got a set of 225/50/16 Bridgestone Blizzaks sitting at work that I can probably get cheap. I know it's almost a 4.75% increase in overall diameter but my P5 doesn't have ABS or Traction Control so will it freak anything out besides my speedometer (or even that if it's electronic from speed sensors?)
Is the 225 too wide to fit without hitting struts/etc on the stock wheel?

yea it would probably fit, clearance wise, but trying to squeeze 225mm tires onto 6" wide rims doesn't sound like a smart idea - probably need to get 16x7 steelies in about 48mm offset

i believe one member has 215 or 225 on his 16x7 konig holes but i doubt they will fit on the stock rims.....

no way you'll get 225's on there you'd even be lucky to safely get 215's on the stock wheel....even if you actually got the tire to fit on the wheel, i would never drive with them ....way to unsafe

Well, according to Bridgestone's website, they're rated for wheel sizes 6"-8", so it's a question of whether they'll fit on the car.

225mm / (25.4mm/in) = 8.86" wide tire

i have 215 45 16 azenis on the factory wheels no problem, a taller sidewall will offer more flex and more than likely fit, though the tire will look like a ballon.. i thinks its best to geta set of steelies or something to put them on.. plus every winter you just have to which wheels instead of buying and mounting tires twice a year....

I just bought a set of DUNLOP GRASPICS DS2 and they compare alot to the bridgestones... and they;re the right size for the factory rims.

225/50 is a relatively tall sidewall, so you can get away w/ a narrower rim. if bridgestone says 6" is ok, i'd believe them. the last thing they want are their tires failing, so i'm sure they're pretty conservative about that.

FYI, people squeeze 225 hoosiers onto 5.5" rims in autoX all the time with no problem. if a tire can hold up to the stress of autoX, it can hold up on the street.

yes it will fit on the rim.

Doubtful it will fit on the car though without rubbing. That's a wide and tall tire.

Assuming thsoe DID physically fit, that size is gonna hurt you snow-wise more than ithelps I'd almost figure. Might be fine for sheer ice, but thatmuch float on a snowtire-bad.
