My best friend owns a tint shop so he does all my stuff before i even pick them up from the dealer, my taillights are covered with Smoked 3M product.

I've never unstood why someone wants to create a situation that is more likely going to cause an accident, with thier own vehicle nonetheless, in the name of fashion.

If you are following me that close that you cant notice that i am stepping on my brakes or cant see cause you need glasses then F U i say i do it for my own taste.

AlbanianDude, we're just gonna assume that you were having a "Murano Moment".
BTW, I like the smoked tailight tint and think it would look great on our BCM. Will do it if I can get the Darling Wife to agree. She's not very inclined toward appearance mods.

I'm not a fan of the looks, but I dont think it hinders lighting very much either. Should still be able to easily see the brakes are applied.

You cant even tell at nite that the taillights are smoked and during the day is fine as well.

I am not apologising for s*** man, if you dont like it move on i did it for me not for him.
I like it but after already having someone smash into the back of our CX-7 and cause $11k in damage, the last thing I need is for these Vegas drivers to have less of a chance seeing the tail lights. All I'd need is someone to blame it on that and let me tell you, they would here. I've been rearended 3 times now in 4 years living here. The people here suck at driving.

And I'm assuming they're street legal in CA? Yes? I don't know if any state or province has any laws regulating the tint on brake lights. It's up to the owners of their cars to make a decision as to what mods they're putting on. It just like window tinting...states have laws regulating those. The owner just has to accept responsibility for what mods they put on and accept the consequences if they get "caught"

If you get rear ended, you'll have to deal with it, I won't. Any good insurance company/lawyer would have a field day with a situation like that. That's why all the smoked headlight and tail light covers in the 80's had "off road use only" warnings on them.
See offset_98's reply for confirmation of this. Of course, Vegas does have an inordinate amount of older drivers and visitors who are "just having a good time"... (drive)
Besides, I may in the minority here in thinking the detail in the lights are needed to break up the otherwise plain rear end. (dunno)

I think they look really cool, but I wouldn't put them on my car.
I was behind a Acura TL today with tinted taillights, and I have a friend who's G35's lights are tinted. I don't car what anybody says, the tint DOES reduce the brightness of the brake lights. If done the right way, it's not that big of a difference. But my friend and that TL both had very dark tint, and when the TL hit his brakes, they lit up about as bright as a stock TL's normal driving lights. That IMHO is dangerous. Because someone can be following the car at a safe distance and see the lights and not realize they are braking, look away for a second or two, and when they look back and realize how close they are it will be too late. Just my $.02, but I do like the way they look.
