Smart City Brake Support activated!

When I picked up my Mazda 6 in March this year, the dealer told me that the Australian Atenza version (top of the line model) now includes SCBS.
Having driven it for the past 3 months where I have been very close to the car in from at low speed, the SCBS has never activated so I wondered if SCBS was actually there.
Anyhow, today while accelerating towards a truck with the intention to change lane, SCBS activated with an alarm and a red coloured 'BRAKE' warning lit up. This is apparently one of the SCBS feature

This is a quote from the mazda dot com site
'The SCBS system also includes Acceleration Control for Automatic Transmission, which helps avoid unintentional acceleration that could be caused by depressing the accelerator instead of the brake pedal.'

So I am glad SCBS is there but could be dangerous if my intention is to change lane but SCBS automatically braked and cut engine power just when I need it the most!

Anyone else has SCBS activated? and what are your thoughts in this feature?

That's just a forward obstruction warning (FOW) as SCBS will not fully brake the car unless you're driving 20mph or less.

I had no idea my car even had this. Every now and then it will kick on when I'm pulling into my garage. It has to be at just the right speed for it to do it.
