slotted/drilled rotor problem

The noise is normal I think. Isn't this the correct way to put them on?

this one is correct. this is a picture of the passenger side

look at the big brake kits from wilwood, baer, etc or at professional drift cars. they are the way dakinep5 has his rotors on. the mercedes has it different because the pad is towards the rear vs the protege whose pad is toward the front.

so for the retards among us...someone draw another crappy picture to clarify what it should look like - not some other car (like mercedes), a protege the right way.

thanks.

drew.

sorry but i would have to say that the drawing you have in incorrect.

lets just say i wouldnt go to your brake shop. Also it doesnt matter which side the caliper is on. the slots on the rotor will contact the pad the same way.

oh okay... o.O interesting
that is why i leave my brakes stock :)

hahaha...own3D!

if any of you too kthe time to read the box the rotors came in it wouldve told ya!! Start readin your instructions!! (gun)

I think it varies with the brand. I have Powerslots and they are mounted like dakine's and mountjonas', and this was doublechecked with a tech AT Powerslot. They do make some noise also.

I just sent an email to AWR racing. we shall see what they have to say on the subject.

I think it depends on the type of rotors ...

Mine where marked on the rotor on the hub.....

Update

Well after much thought and consideration we decided to swap the rotors around as you see in this new pic. The vibration went away, and the rotors are now quiet. One thing I forgot to mention in the original post...after a 2 mile test drive the first time, there were pieces of my pads melted/stuck onto my rotors in little small flakes, like the size of a gold flake. We "picked" these off the rotors when we swapped them around so there was a smooth surface on the rotor. There was also pieces of brake pads all over my wheels.

I drove about 50 mile tonight to an award's ceremony and the drive was uneventful. Besides tons of brake dust (even though I supposedly paid more for dust-free pads) they were quiet, made no noise and stopped great. Oh BTW I put on Rotex pads from brakeworld.com. It seems about 50/50 on which way these go...but for now they're staying like this....

Oh about reading the instructions....I looked over the box my rotors came in about 50 times...there is nothing regarding the direction of the slots unless I'm blind. I sorta figured these were factory replacement Brembo's that someone had sent out to be slotted/drilled so of course there would be no such directions on the factory Brembo box :)

Brembos

I've got the brembo cross drilled and slotted. I spoke to them personally and the told me that the direction of the slots go with the directions of the wheel. So the spiral inword. Hollywood 2009 has them correct. But as said before that could be different, if you brand other than Brembo
Cheers

hurricane, youre missin a lug
yeah you like that huh? If you notice that wheel stud is also brand new...I stripped it taking the wheel off and had to replace it...the lug nut is also toast and I gotta go find another one....sometimes you can't win (nuts)

how do you get a new stud, i need one, i bent it because the wrench i used once was too long so instead of turning it just bent it down

Go to NAPA or even Mazda and tell them you need a wheel stud. You have to hammer the old one out and then tap the new one in til the raises in the side catch and then you can put a washer and a lug nut on to pull it thru the rest of the way. That's what I had to do with my Eclipse when a lug got stripped on there.

Mazda is kinda expensive for the studs. When I priced it, they wanted $5 something for one. I ended up getting it for $2 something from a local parts store.

I bought one at my local parts store for $1.50. They even had it in stock which is amazing. It wasn't bad to get out/in but it would be alot easier if you had an impact wrench
