Sliding door latch freeze & won't latch

I wanted to ask if anyone has a solution for this..When it is really cold/snowy/sleeting/etc, if i open either of the sliders, they won't latch close. They will eventually close, but this is after I am already late for work! i have gotten it to latch, but then the lights will stay on, like the button is stuck too. We don't have a garage or carport (i know, it's a bummer).
Does anyone have any recommendations as to what i can do to prevent non-latching? I'm wondering if an oil on the latch or something like that would work?

is it still under warranty that you could take it to the dealer? I live in a very cold place and I'm actually surprised how good my 5 has been this winter - I have even washed it several times when its been pretty cold and the doors operate just fine.
