Sirius Radio

I know all of our MSP are equipment that can hook up a turner for Sirius radio. Well on another board i am on there is a guy offering a FREE one.

But i am lookin on the Sirius site and it says this
"All Mazdaspeeds come equipped with a Sirius-Ready stereo. And all Mazdaspeed customers are automatically qualified to receive a free tuner and antenna from SIRIUS. Drive away in a Mazdaspeed and enjoy 100 streams of satellite radio today."

hmm...i wonder which brand because the one the guy is giving out is Audiovox

You want the kenwood tuner otherwise your radio will not control the tuner.
Kenwood has an offer going that gets you a free tuner with purchase of a new kenwood sirus ready radio. I would call kenwood directly to see if that is aplicable to the mazaspeed protege radio aswell.

03MzdSpdSTP: Could you tell me where on the SIRIUS site it has the info you said about Owners of Mazdaspeed Protege entitled to free antenae and tuner.
Thanks.

Sirius radio is nice, by the way.. Although the DJ's spinning on the dance stations contantly train wreck mixes... That's coming from an ex-club DJ, though so I always notice things like that. "Normal" people may or may not. :D

As do we all.
He mentioned it just the sirius site, try that.

Hunted around the website and turned this up.

All new 2003 MAZDASPEED Protegs come equipped with a Sirius-Ready stereo. Plus, all Mazdaspeed customers are automatically qualified to receive a free tuner and antenna from SIRIUS. Drive away in a Mazdaspeed and enjoy 100 streams of satellite radio today.

So this seems pretty clear cut. Can anyone that has recently gotten and MSP call them up and try to confirm. I would if I had my titanium but of course its not here yet!

This is one of those times I hate being in Canada, I want stuff that you American's get!!!
(we don't have any satelite radio here)

Doug you can still get it if you want, I plan on getting it, just use a US address, all the payments are done by credit card anyway. I will just use our office from the US. I plan on going down to Michigan in a few weeks so I will just pick it up while I am down there ;)

as far as not liking the antenna it seems pretty popular to put it on your back dash, if you have tint you will not even see it, thats where I plan on putting it

I just did an order. They are sending me the antenna and the reciver for free. All I have to do is sign up for one year. They also give you a choice of them installing it for $99 or you do it youself.
I am waiting now for the items which is coming by sat UPS.

yeah the sundeck thats were i plan on putting it.

Just as a heads up if you don't put the antenna onthe roof like th einstructions say be prepared for a lot more drop outs if you live in an area that they don't have a ground repeater in. The antenna works very similar to the way a satelite TV dish works, it needs to see the satelite for proper signal. Metal specifically the roof and window tint will block the signal and you will lose reception. Yes the antenna is ugly, especially when compaired to some of the newer XM ones but it needs to be outside and on the roof. Eventually the antenna companies will come out with a smaller and better looking version and you can replace it later for better cosmetics.

Where did you order it from? Will they send you the parts and let you activate it later?

Yeah You have to call a company called American Sattilite.
1-888-999-4551. Tell them you purchased a Mazdaspeed and you would like the freee antenna and reciver. They will take down you info and credit card #. You need to sign up for one year. They will send you a contract over the email or you can do it over the phone. Give them a call and they can explain it better. They will send out the stuff once you agree to the service.
