Sirius Activation question

Okay so I got my hardware and I have installed everything. Now its activating it through Sirius along with my ESN number. My question is do we have to get a year contract since we got the free equipment? Or can we do quarterly or even monthly. I know ive read some that are paying monthly but I was just looking over the terms. And it seems like you need to do a year up front or am I confusing myself. I hope I can do it monthly and as long as i keep it monthly for 12mos im cool right?

you can pay monthy, but you need to do it for a year.

Just like a cell phone, my friend.. Cheap (or free) phone, but ya gotta keep service for the specified time or a cancellation fee will apply.
