short shifter

I haven't seen one yet. If one is made, Corksport will most likely be the first.

IIRC, They have a neat system for the M3. Not sure if something similar would work on the 2.

of all the things i have issues with...i have issues grinding gears...i've done it 3 times already all on various gears...

a short shifter would be nice...im used to shorter throws than this

i think u have the same issue as i did when i initially bought the car. i was so used to stepping on the clutch halfass before shifting thats y i was griding. after changing my method i didnt grind at all. my main issue with this is shifting from 1st to 2nd then 2nd to 3rd. 1st to 2nd gear revs up too fast. then 2nd to 3rd takes hellah long then the throw fills long too.

I found that Steeda offers a short shifter for the fiesta. Wonderinig if it woud fit the 2..

actually, i just do a lot of lazy shifting...because im used to the throw being so short on my previous car, I would literally flick my wrist and be in the next gear. So with the 2 when i shift and im not fully conscious of the shift, I'll think I'm in gear already because I still have a 10 year habit from my old car with the SS and my subconscious will think im still in that car.

So I'll shift, and let go right before it goes fully into the slot and dump the clutch causing a very mild grind...but a grind nonetheless. I hate myself for doing it cuz i know im better than that. I've owned the car since September 2011 and it's only happened 3 times so far...but it's not something i forget.

hahaha yup same bad habbit that i have being used to short shifter and act cluth were u just have to step half way and it will grab, is throwing me off with this mz2 lol

but am i the only 1 who feels weird with the 1st to 2nd then 2nd to 3rd?

Hi,

I don't think the Fiesta and the M2 shifter will interchange. That's based upon the parts drawings from the M2 parts book compared to the installation instructions from the Fiesta shifter.

I wonder if JBarone, TWM or Sure would be interested in making a short shift plate for these cars? Or is the 2 trans similar to a miata trans?

I've talked to TWM, they said they're discussing a short shifter for our 2's; so hopefullyy soon!

well...now that you mention it...ive grinded twice from 1st to 2nd and once from 2nd to 3rd. I have to remind myself to shove it into the gear

from what i've seen, TWM just does a lot of cutting the tops off stock shifters to make them "short" at least thats what they did with my old car. Where TRD in my case actually made a quicker shifter that reduced the throw by 40% but only shortened 1 inch, and the TWM shortened 2.5 inches and reduced 40%.

Kinda weird

the full replacement for my 2010 speed3 is a piece of machined magic. yes the throw is a lot shorter and the hieght is changed. in my opinion, those are 2 things that people look for in a short shifter.

As long as the shifter reduces the THROW, then I don't really care how short it is since I'm running an extension anyway.

This is what I want to be doing as well. I'm not running an extension yet, but I'd like to be able to put one on and make up for the increase in throw with a short shifter.

I actually just got done watching the new ken block film. its cool to have a high shifter but i think it would look akward on the mazda 2 seeing the shifter is p high already. gawd how i really wish the mazda2 was a rear wheel drive

Shifting is ridiculously effortless with the extension.. like ridiculously. I love it. And the extension is right by the wheel too.. I've never been able to shift so quickly in a car.

I don't think it looks too bad.. all my car buddies love the thing!
