Short shift kit???

Anyone installed a short shift kit??? I am looking at one at SRMotorSports.........any good/bad experiences with this company??

I have the SR Motorsports Rear Antisway Bar...awesome product. My gripes were lack of general communication/response and the lack of any instructions with the item. Build quality and packaging were pretty good. I don't know that I'd buy from them again, but overall not bad.

www.protege5online.com is still the best vendor in my opinion.

There are plenty of threads of people who changed out their shifters. You can SEARCH for all of them. I just installed the Kartboy shifter and bushings today. Fairly simple job and drastic improvement. I just don't know why auto companies don't put these shifters on stock. Gives the car a whole new feel. Definately go for it.

tom,

got your message tonight, thanks for returning my call so quickly! :) i then found the install instructions here, stupid me . . . well, stupid retainer clip, rather!! :D

anyway, they're excellent products (kartboy short shifter and bushings) . . . i installed them tonight in under 45 minutes, and i thoroughly enjoyed the "test drive" . . . :D

throws and actually shifter height are a bit shorter than i was expecting, but i'm very pleased, nonetheless. :)

cheers!

I have the B& M and I love it, short, tight throws.

Me too!

When I first put it in, it was a little tighter than I like, but now after 5K or so, it's perfect. Can't imagine WHAT changing the "bushings" would get me - I don't think I'd care for it being any more "precise" than it is now.

I suspect most of the "slop" I really didn't care for was due to the white nylon OEM "bushings" which center (or attempt to center ;) ) the shift ball - All that's replaced with the B&M.

Brain wanted to put a gun to his mouth when he installed the B&M, and me I lost an hour getting the damn thing to go down, that's how tight the fit his, but it's really worth it. Very precise shifts.

Had my dealer try it and he asked a bunch of questions, including if I had time to install one in his personnal car ( no mechanics to do it for him:confused: ).

I like the height of the stock shifter....all I want are the bushings! Who can I talk to and how much will they run?

Ask Kartboy.

You'd probably like the height of the "short shifter" better, (the shaft isn't all that much shorter) plus you wouldn't have to reach into the back seat to catch second gear . . . ;)
