Shift knobs for 5 speed 08 3s

I was wondering if the first gen mazda 6 shift knobs will fit the 08 3s 5 speed ( had one on my old 03 protege5 and loved it) its the one that looks like a black and silver baseball with the pattern on shiny metal. If it does not fit what are some alternatives to the stock one? Mine is worn pretty slick and i want to replace it.

On the same topic how much does a short shifter kit cost? And how hard is it to install?

cool i looked at it and figured it was the same but without one to compare or try i was not 100% my only thing is i am not sure how deep the 6's ball is im wondering if it will get tight enough to not spin, the 3's ball seems deeper. any suggestions for short shifter kits?

What diameter is the ball? I may have some 2.2" or 1.9" ones that can be drilled and tapped as deep as necessary.
