Server Tuning

OK, so we're doing some tests to see if we can tune the server to run more efficiently. This is hardly brain surgery, it's the usual optimization techniques, shoulda been done long ago, but never got to it.
Still, browsing speed depends on so many variables (time of day, internet connection, etc etc) that we rely on your feedback. So browse a bit, post some threads, upload some attachments, and lemme know if this feels overall faster now than, say, the past past few days.

Is this why the server's been down a lot recently?

No, that was cause I was out in Italy while something screwed up, so it took a few days for me to get someone to fix it. It was a simple problem and I promise it won't happen again until next time.

haha.

Seems to be a bit quicker. Not a huge increase in performance, but it is definitely noticeable for me with Comcast (6 mbps) cable internet.

A while back (not counting the couple of days where the server went bezerk) it oftentimes took a few seconds for a page to start loading...or it would partially load, pause for a few seconds, and then load the rest of the page. It's much smoother now.

Thanks!!

Yeah...we've got a 50 shot of "NOS" injected into the CPU...got the button on my keyboard...you know that red key ;)

I hope you guys take a minute to realize and appreciate what goes into making your Mazda Forums experience a good one...it's not only what you see on the surface but the backend requires a lot of care as well...

nice to have it working smoothly again... I was going crazy in my sensory deprived prison cell.

God, I can't wait to get home... 14 days and counting

Definetly feels better then it has been. Noticed immediate pick up in speed with login, general browsing and posting to threads.
No more slowness... horray!!!

Have nothing to upload or start new thread about... stuck at school for now, but will definetly check back when i get home tonight and see how it is at home.

i had some lag with searching last night... i dont know if it was from the mantience but i figured id mention it.

well I havent had any issue like the last few days of not being able to pull up the forums for 10 mins at a time so Id say its running great :D

everything seems fine from here. i tested upload speed and it's a bit faster than before (but like you said, there are tons of variable) and i'm on a 10mbit connection here

good job. it also starts loading quicker like someone else said

yea exactly what someone said about checking mail while home page loads lol, it is alot quicker great job thx :)
