Screwy alarm on Protege

I recently bought an 01' Protege ES with a Bicron alarm and this thing is just really screwy. I'm not exactly sure whether it is the transmitter or the alarm system within the car but sometimes the car won't unlock and then other times it will. Recently, the battery of the transmitter was replaced so it can't be that... This seems to be happening every so often and is really starting to annoy me, any insight on what is happening?

When it won't unlock, how long has it been since the car was locked?
Also when it won't unlokc, has the alarm gone off?

Other then user misunderstanding or aloose connection for the lock wires, chances say the brain is failing.

I'll usually lock the car sometime around midnight or earlier and then try unlocking the car at around 7AM, this is when it starts acting up and sometimes even beeps when it doesn't normally beep.

And yes I think I did notice the alarm will go off when I repeatedly try to unlock the car using the remote. If all of this points to the actual system failing then I'd rather just disable it and use my key for the time being.

I responded to your other post in a different forum. It could be the antenna on the alarm system has crappy range and it picks up the signal only some of the time. I never heard of the maker, so maybe it is a cheap alarm that does more harm than good and should be replaced or at least disconnected so you can access your vehicle without setting it off all of the time.

Yea, I think that I have to disconnect it as soon as possible. The only problem is that I don't have the manual for the alarm, since I have no clue how alarm systems are connected I have no idea if they're mostly universal or not. Any instructions on disconnecting this piece of s***?

Ok, I really need help disconnecting it now.. as it seems I have to fiddle around with the harness underneath the dash everytime I want to start up the car.

Look up under the dash above where the clutch is (or would be if it is an automatic). You should see a "black box" that is the brain of the alarm. If the sticker is intacked, you should see the manufacturer of the alarm on it. You can just pull the plug going in to the alarm. The other option is to find the valet switch if it has one and switch it off (more than likely you will have to have the ignition switched on when flipping the switch).

Ok, I just managed to remove two fuses out of the box and now everything works perfectly. No more alarm, no more troubles. :-D
