Schedule of Most Autocrosses in VA/DC

Well, I made a list of all the autocrosses in VA/DC (to my knowledge, there are probably some I'm forgetting.) If you plan to attend an event listed, don't go just off of my info. Hope this is helpful. Also, Dan, can I cross post this to the Racing/Motorsports Forum? I figured if I had to pick a place I'd put it here since it's VA/DC, but I think some of the Racing/Motorsports people who don't go here might appreciate it.

Let me know any corrections/changes to anything and I'll edit this post to update it. Also, if you have any additions post em here.

Which ones have learning session things? I'd like to try one out sometime. Also, there's no minimum age is there? Would I need to buy a helmet or are there extras?

Well, all autocrosses allow and welcome new people. The best way to get started is to just go to one. There are a few threads on here about how to get started, but basically it boils down to just going and seeing what it's like. Everyone was new once, and everyone knows that and will be helpful and friendly. The next autox near me is in Petersburg, and it's with VMSC. It's on July 18th. They say if you're under 18 you have to have a waiver signed by your parents, but I'm under 18 and haven't had any issues.

Unless they changed the name,it is Metropolitan Washington Council of Sports Car Clubs. I used to autocross there in the 1970's. A number of SCCA's ideas for Solo II started there.

I think I'll try to make an early august one. I gotta get the kartboy shifter bushings before I do it. Quickshifting in this car still makes me slightly nervous even after about 4000 miles. The gearbox is just so notchy. I'm gonna try to change the tranny fluid sometime too. I might have to come to an install day and get some help with this stuff.

Hank - According to most people saying I look 16 is being generous. lol. Getting a waiver signed shouldn't be a problem though.

Would a motorcycle helmet work? I dont know much about helmets. My brother, sister, and brother-in-law all sold their bikes within the last year so one should still have a helmet lying around.

yup, that's still the name.

now it includes a whole bunch of local car clubs, and each holds 1 event this season (all at Rosecroft except the SCCA-held event, which is at FedEx)

i take it you're not part of the 18-25 crowd like the majority of us here(lol2)

btw the BMWCCA is hosting the Council event this Sunday at Rosecroft Raceway. If you want to see how a 'Council' event is run, come check it out!

btw i'll be running in the last group of the day (3pm group) :)

Yes, a motorcycle helmet will work for autox. I've got an M2000 helmet. You only need an SA helmet if you are doing any road racing.

ZOOMZOOMH, It was like that in the 70's except that We ha few enough clubs that I think some clubs actually put on more than one.

ProtegeV, I am at heart part of the 18-25 crowd and both of children are so does that count?

If I'm not doing anything I think I'll try to get up there. It shouldn't take too long to get there.
