Awesome. I blew my motor again over the weekend so I'm in a rush to get the car back together. I want to assure everyone that I'm not using any donation money for it. I'll get a final list of everyone who is going and thier contact info in a week or so.

I've got 2 spare blocks, 3 cranks, and 3 heads. I just need to get new bearings, seals, and gaskets. I'll have it back together in a week or so. Just have to wait on shipping.

I'm sure the BP is lighter and a better engine, but would it make much more power within the limits of FSP?

Probably not a whole lot more if any. It does have a better aftermarket, but most of the popular parts bump you out of SP. Rebuilds might be cheaper though. I've got another fish to fry this winter anyway. I'm going Tuesday to pick up a '74 260Z. I need a cool little Saturday night sports car.

how would that work? Wouldn't that knock you to SM?

EDIT: Does update / backdate work even if the BP wasn't in a Protege5?

Update/Backdate works on anything in the same line in the SP listings. The only listing for Protege in FSP is Protege making no mention of different generations so anything that can swap (assuming you can do it to SP rules) is able to be legally swapped.

it would probably be an easier build, with a much larger knowledge base behind it (and less zoom-zoom-boom-ing). basically: build a CSP miata engine w/out the variable-valve head.

but i suspect that the FS might make more midrange torque, which comes in a lot handier on course than does peak power.

does the BP have aluminum or iron block/heads? how about the FS?

Both use the same materials for block and head. Probably no gains there.

It didn't hit me at first, but better aftermarket parts for SP = ITBs!!! You could pick up the TWM kit for the 1.8. That would be nice
