Found this posted on another forum....it's the Saturn "Redline". Specs don't look too bad.....supposed to be putting out about 201hp at the wheels.......but like the SRT it'll have to have a SICK amount of good press and good test info for me to give it any props. Dodge makes the Viper so we know they are capable of making something that performs but Saturn makes the.....errr.....Ion.....and.....errr.....well, that's about it.....we shall see. I ate my words on the SRT and ended up buying one so I'm not gonna hang myself this time :)

One thing I AM sure of though is it won't touch the MSP handling.....we still run the table in that area :)

2.0-liter, supercharged and intercooled version of the Ecotec four-cylinder engine
Five-speed transmission with increased torque capacity, close ratio gearing and short-throw shifter
Beefier, equal-length halfshafts
High-flow, performance-tuned exhaust and air induction system
Large four-wheel disc brakes (with standard ABS)
Racetrack-bred suspension tuning, including revised springs, shocks, bushings and stabilizer bars
17 x 7 inch, five-spoke forged alloy wheels
Continental 215/45 W-rated performance tires
10-mm lower ride height
Unique front and rear fascias, rocker moldings and a family of available rear wings
Performance front seats and steering wheel

I am not sure if i like the look of the Redline! I will like so see what numbers it puts up. The ecotec seems to be potent in professional drag

Thats faster than your car!!

Ha! Doesn't matter. I would walk before I drove GM. Period! Oh! And; I sure as well wouldn't drive a Pontiac; let alone be seen in one. (puke)

Hey! It's all personal choice.(k)

I don't think you could turn the ION into a sports car. It doesn't have that look to begin with. The wheel wells still look empty. Theres something wierd about this car's look...I have yet to pinpoint it, something looks out of proportion. The interior is even worse....they should have kept a conventional design.

Do you know how much they will sell it for?

Who cares what the specs are...

Years ago when I was both young and fearless I used to race faithfully every weekend. I never cared what the other guy had because experience taught me that the car may be all that... but the driver most usually never was.

Father Scott now steps down from his soap box. (peep)

Cheers,
Scott

i said the same thing about the protege when my g/f got it 6 years ago. but here i am 6 years later driving a protege!

it is true, the pontiacs, more specifically the grand am are filled with problems. they note that in consumer reports esp in the used car guide. my friend had a 97 grand am v6 auto, and he put at LEAST $5,000 into it after he got it. and that $5000 is WITH THE dealer discount he gets since his uncle owns the dealership!

YIPES
some years are better than others...

How come it says 5 spoke in the list & the car has 6 spokes?

It looks like they stole my wing too.

Speaking of which, WTF does a "family" of rear wings mean?

Does anyone else think it looks like a doorstop (tiny front & huge, long ass)?

Welcome to the beauty of the GM 60degreeV6...

otherwise known as 60degreeVshit, lol....

i have the 4 but hell i guess its no pot of roses either.....lots of potential but the heads are weaker than piss.

yeah, that is ugly...it kinda looks like a sunfire with an expanded mid section...ick...
as for whoever said grand ams suck...you are totally correct...i use to have a 97 grand am gt...and it sucked so bad...it had more horsepower than my 03 protege does and this car is a lot faster than that bad grand am...
i bought the car with like 35,000 miles on it and it started falling apart like 5000 miles later...total bad car...and i know its not the only one, because some family and friends have some and they have fallen apart too...

family of wings...
i think that means you can pick from a few different ones...eh, whats the big deal with that...anyone can buy a freakin wing...

all in all, that saturn might have good numbers...but it doesn't mean its a good or fun car to drive...
definatly ug

All I know is that my g/f's SC2(stock) is faster than my mp3(SRI, ground wires). You also have to think about the fact saturns have dent-resistant(plastic) body panels. The only metal panel on the car is it's roof. And just so you know, saturns are NOT another gm sh*tbox, at least not the 1.9L's.

but the ecotech engine in this saturn is all gm. not that i'm a big fan but the track record on the ecotech is pretty inpressive

i didn't say that it was fast, im saying that doesn't make them fun...not all fast cars are fun...ive driven plenty of cars that are faster than my protege and none of them are as fun to drive...

the rear doors look like the rx-8 design
Actually the rear doors have been on the saturn for quite a while (remember those stupid tuba commercials?) Some people have even gone as far to say as that mazda stole the idea for the RX8.
hmmm
