runs out of air?

Ive got a HKS BOV and a Cobb intake and that is it. I love the car and it sounds like a 747 ready for take off but it seems to me that in high rpms, like maybe 5000 or 5500 the car runs out of air it feels like. Kind of weird, pulls hard then almost as if it slow down of sorts. Kind of hard to explain. Is the exhaust just getting bottle necked and needs to get out quicker? Anyone else seem to feel this?

well ok...if the power drops off at 5.5k do u think there would be any point to going past that mark??...

and thats not to sound like a jerk, but sometimes a lot of questions can be answered with a bit more thought.

but short answer = no.

Actually, this was answer was sufficient. :)
No reason to be so harsh on the newby.

yes i am a newb to MS3's but no means new to forum edict, i understand fully the use of the search button and i do use it prior to posting a thread. I know that it can be frustrating seeing the same post hundreds if not more times about the same exact topic asked 20 different ways. However one thing i do not understand is why people get so mad that someone else is asking a question that has already been covered. To me it would seem more simple to share your knowledge, post a logical and helpful response and move on. It not YOUR forum or hurting YOU if someone posts a question regarding a problem..... As always i appreciate these forums as they have a wealth of knowledge captured in them from fellow enthusiasts, but some of the peoples attitudes are crappy. Try working in the service industry where you have customers calling all day long asking the same questions or complaining about the same pitty crap.... and get back to me about how frustrating that is compared to reading a thread and having the choice to comment positively or negatively against it.. (freak)

Very knowledgeable people are hard to come by and we are very thankful to have a few on this board. They are enthusists of our vehicles. Most of their knowledge has come from research, experiementing, and attempting to perform something no one ever has. Most of them will gladly share their experience and knowledge for free.

When someone asks a good question, such as "is a CAI going to raise boost/detonate my engine/improve gas milage", these people will expunge their knowledge for all to see. But they may only do it two or three times. They get tired of repeating themselves over and over.

Then you get the "hearsay"ers. These are people that know only based on what they have heard here, and have no experience with the topic at hand. These are the people that will replace a guru when he/she gets tired of answering the same questions over and over. However, the hearsay-ers are only 90% right 80% of the time. That's when bad knowledge starts getting spread about the forums.

If everybody searched (and knew how to search) prior to posting, there would be very few topics on the searched subject, but it would be very easy to find the in-depth answer given by a very knowledgable person with first hand experience. If you just post up a question that has been asked 100 times, you will get over 100 results when you searched, with answers either bad, non-detailed info or answers saying "seach noob". Doesn't help anyone. Finding the good info is like finding a needle in a haystack at this point. I've seen this happen to other forums. It gets bad real quick.

To your statement about working at a service industry. Okay, you said "working" as in getting paid. IT'S YOUR FREAKING JOB. These guys on here get no money, no fame, just pleasure at helping out other individuals with similar interests. Don't piss them off, I need them here as much as anyone else.

No one is here to hold your hand or to do things for you. Take a little ownership and man up.

To answer your question, there are a few reasons why the power dies at 5500 rpm...

Restrictive intake, turbo inlet, intercooler, and exhaust. In addition, the throttle is controlled not to open more than 70% (peak)...

Modify the above components and you'll pull till red line!!

i have to disagree with you...weird huh? hahaha
it depends on the application...if you are at the 1/4 mile and at the very end and you can either run it past 5.5K or shift, sometimes it will be better to run it to redline because you will lose too much time shifting. Again this is a very specific situation but it does exist so i can't agree with you 100%
