Rubbing/Grinding Noise from Transmission

I've notice a weird noise from my transmission only during deceleration and in gear. The only reason I think its the transmission is because when I push in the clutch or decelerate in neutral the noise is gone. Also, its only noticeable a low speeds like 20mph or lower....Anyone have any ideas about what this could be.

Sounds like input shaft bearing to me, maybe the throwout bearing. Could mean breaking the tranny open FYI.

Yeah....maybe.....it depends on what it is. If the input shaft bearing locks up, you will know it. I tend to think its something internal to the tranny.

I hope its not the diff....I'm gonna change the fluid to see if it goes away. If not I'll have to get it looked at. Thanks for replies!

If its a bearing in the tranny, its not gonna be cheap, unless you learn yourself how to do it........

Nothing fixes itself, fluid can only possibly mask a potential problem. Check it out before it becomes a major problem....

I changed my fluid last night, and it really made no difference..(sad2)So i've decided that i'll check my local wrecker yards and if I cant find one there, then I'll buy one from speedcircuit.net. I figure it'll be cheaper to replace than fix. Thanks for all your help guys!

If you are looking for a diff do not install a used one. (I would be surprised if you even find an MSP in a junkyard) go with a new revised welded diff or an MFactry LSD.

mine started doing the same thing a few months ago and since then its gotten worse and worse. please let me know what your outcome is... ive already started saving some money for a new clutch, flywheel, and lsd. if i do have to pull the tranny its not getting put back in with old parts
