Rota Wheels

These P1's bored to fit. 18x8:

you're gonna lower the car?
225/40/18?

It's close, but with the width of the tires I want to run, I've got to be picky. Unless someone proves otherwise that is.

I don't go 245 and I don't want any rubbing. I'm keeping the suspension stock (besides sways).

See if you can dig any info up on the DG (fake AWD) car, because it had REAL 245/40-18's on it. And I agree, that is the best size, period.

I think RX-8 wheels would do it. The offset is ~50mm. You'd still need to trim/roll the fenders, I think. At least the rear.

I'm not buying RX8 wheels. New they are expensive as hell. Used, they are both too expensive for new wheels and almost always damaged. Even a slight ding won't do for me.

I'll find a shop that guarantees their work to roll the rear fenders if I have to.

I know what you mean. But what I'm saying is that if you can find a wheel that matches the RX-8's offset and width, you'll likely get your 245's.

You can rent a quality fender roller on your own, and do it yourself. Its not major bodywork by any stretch of the imagination.

Yeah, I've got a wheel that comes in a 50 offset thats 17x8 or 18x8, whatever I choose.

I'd do the fender roll myself, but I'd rather pay someone so if the paint gets chipped, they get to fix it.

If you're getting a rim with a 50 offset I'd say you DONT need to roll your fenders. I have 17X8 with a 225/45/17 profile, dropped with H&Rs and I have no rubbing issues. I dont think you need a wider profile ie: 235 or 245, cause you're putting 8.5"-9" tires on a 8" rim

Explain more, Jam Asian.

Are you saying don't use wider tires because its wider then the wheel?

I don't want to mis-construe.

IMO, I'd say go as wide as you can, within the limits of the wheel's recommended sizes while paying attention to total circumference of the tire. A 245/40-18 is nearly exactly the same height as a 215/45-18.

Simple math:

215mm x .45 x 2 / 25.4 + 18 = 25.618"

245mm x .40 x 2 / 25.4 + 18 = 25.717"

Super close. In fact, I'd doubt the car would even measure the difference on the speedo/odo.

By contrast, a 235 and 225 are too small (when using 40 aspect tires), and will not work as well. In addition, an extra 30mm of tread width is very good on a car like this, and I think it is a step in the right direction. You can get a lot of sticky, good quality tires in a 245/40-18 out there.

I DO want/need wider tires. There will be more rubber on the road with wider tires. Fender rolling will all depend on the clearances. I'll only be 1cm wider in each direction as compared to your setup, but I will not be lowering the car at all.
