wow dude!! ur awesome!!! and thanks to others who help of courseARD MP5 said:Ok so basically it comes down to this:
So in the END it all comes down to these TWO QUESTIONS:
1. How wide is your wheel?
2. What is the offset of that wheel?
If the answers to those two questions fall into my "RECIPE" then it should spit out the tire size you can run.
If you bought 17x7.5 +48 offset or higher wheels then you can run a 215/40/17. If you didn't then you can't.
I like this tire calculator, most guys use the Miata one.

Ok hope that helped a little.

Togan said:oh man... so ur saying my only option is 205? like the seller guy said?
Kansei said:yupthe +42 offset means the wheels will stick out farther than the stock wheels. If the tires were wider they'd rub the fenders.
Togan said:yaozaa..that blows then.. oh well if 205/17 doesnt rub the fender im happy.. its gonna be my first set of rims im so excited!!...like a newly engaged ugly chick puahahuhauhauhauaa
lol twice! /jackARD MP5 said:Togan,
All the info is in the recipe. I don't understand why it just can't be read.
yes it will rub.Togan said:ok i decided to go with 215/40/17 with 42mm offset, will it rub???
ARD MP5 said:I think the recipe is in plain english. Maybe i need to rewrite it. Why do you guys think people have a hard time figuring this out?
Little Beavis said:I agree that it makes sense and reads easily enough. I think it would be beneficial to state what the stock offsets are for reference or what can be squeezed on stock rims and aftermarket rims.
I've read this thread many times and still would like to put 225/45 R17 on my stock rims (and stock suspension) if possible - some say yes, others hell no. . .so I just don't know what to do. And I'm sure I'm not alone. I think the fitment guide is awesome for those looking to buy new rims, but as expected, it can't answer every question.
I think the stock wheels are +52mm, you shouldn't have any problemsmzdalvr said:just a question about offset, i think the stockers are 42 or 45mm, would increasing the offset to lets say a 50mm rim increase stress on the lug bolts or braking system. it seems that anything more than 3% of plus sizing the rims can cause failure? any thoughts?
