Ricktalife's EPIC fails and maybe a build thread too

the IAT really doesnt matter much, no matter what some people will tell you. if it actually mattered, mazda would have figured out a way to attach it to the cold pipe or directly to the throttle body when they made the MSP. so im very doubtful.

My new EGR arrived today. I like the looks of the new setup that they designed, so even if it doesn't solve my problem I think it was still money well spent.

Installed my MattV Retrofits today! They look siiiiiiiick.

drain the coolant for an EGR??? wtf? why?

Yea I was confused at first too but according to the instructions this is a revised version with 3 hoses that attach to it. 2 coolant hoses, and 1 vacuum ventilation hose. Oh and I need a new gasket also. Gotta hit up the stealership on Monday.

well the CDM EGR did not solve my problem. Just for s**** and giggles I think I will switch the MAF back to the intake just to see what happens. Maybe try resetting the ECU once more. I'm pretty much out of ideas so I may have to take it to a shop.

today I switched the MAF back to the intake and the cut pipe back to its original position. My setup obviously isn't working because of the idle and turkey issues that have arisen. I think the best thing for me to do is get a new cold pipe made at my local performance shop. That way I can move the BOV further from the TB and have room for the MAF between them without being too close to the TB either. I still need to think some more but I really don't see any other option now that I've hacked my pipe up. Though one thing to consider is that I would like to get a steedspeed intake mani when they start production, so maybe I'll wait for that to get exact fitment.

Couple more items arrived in the past few days. A corksport S-pipe, and a coolant tank plus catch can made by signature sound. Here's a pic of the cans..

Not too much going on lately. Still have all the recent parts mentioned above sitting in boxes lol. I'm so cautious about starting an install since it's my daily. My focus right now is on getting a decent tune for my AFC. I will hopefully be ready for a dyno tune next summer, but I need something sufficient until then.

Found a member looking to trade his AEM F/IC for an AFC and jumped at the opportunity since I have heard good things about the AEM despite the small following from the MSP crowd. It is on its way to me right now, and I am very excited to make the swap. The AFC is nice and perfectly sufficient, but I'd like to have some tuning software that is a little more advanced.

Put the Racing Hart's back on with some aggressive Hankook i-Pike's for the winter.

Ran into an issue with misfires and running lean, so I replaced the coil packs and spark plug wires. All is well now. I forgot to swap the plugs so I will be doing that this weekend lol.. maybe I will throw in the Forge BPV I recently acquired.

nice dude, nice. im a big fan of the AEM, i think i have a few threads bookmarked if you want me to dig them up for you.
from what i recall, the table resolution on the AEM is WAY better than the SSAFC... a lot of people really like that.

glad you fixed your misfiring, thats ******* scary son. its nice that plugs and wires takes about 15 mins on our little four cyls... be sure to inspect your old ones!

If it's not too much trouble I'd love to see any threads on the AEM so I can start educating myself. And yea my heart stopped when the CEL started flashing at me LOL I thought the motor was gonna blow.

Well looks like the coil packs I bought are pieces of s***, go figure. I took them out to check the plugs and the rubber part on the bottom that snaps to the plug ripped off and got stuck in the cylinder... FML. So I spent a good hour fishing that s*** out.

The only thing I really accomplished was installing the Forge BPV, which took about 5 minutes...
