Retractable cargo cover worth it on cx5?

I just bought a 2016 cx5. Is the cargo cover worth it? I got a deal for $160 vs $200

Worth is a relative term. While I do like the design of the cover (attached to the back hatch), my previous vehicle came with cargo cover and 90% of the time I had it laying in the back unattached. That combined with tinted back and side windows I think their usefulness is somewhat limited.

Definitely a useful item for me. Keep prying eyes from my stuff in addition to keeping stuff cooler in the summer. Ed

It's worth it if you happen to be involved in an accident and you have a lot of loose stuff sitting your trunk that could turn into projectiles flying through the passenger compartment.

And yes, I speak from experience.

Even with tinted windows, one would be able to see into the cargo area if they looked closely. I really like the design of the CX-5 cargo cover as is goes up and out of the way completely when opening the rear hatch. When it's open there is a mess section that is exposed to allow you see into the cabin which is great for keeping an eye on my little ones. It was the first accessory I bought and it is well worth it if you ask me. It would have been nice for mazda to include it but alas they do not.

I negotiated that as a free inclusion. I know, I know, I still paid for it, but, I made it part of the deal.

I like mine and would do it again. I like the privacy and safety aspects as well as the way it functions. I don't like how much weight it adds to the vehicle 24 hours/day/7 days/week. It's not the kind of accessory you remove when you don't need it so the weight is always there.

I don't think the designers of this accessory followed the weight principles of Skyactiv philosophy (reduce weight of every component without compromising function/reliability). It's well made but heavier than necessary.

I better get those water bottles out of the back.

I often carry emergency water if I'm traveling on remote back roads. But it's good not to have a lot more than you reasonably need. I pack 7 gallons of pure non-chlorinated, non-flouridated spring water back from my mountain cabin every trip (but I empty any remaining water before bringing the empties back).

Anyone who's ever done any touring by pedal bike knows why it's important to manage their water supply, particularly in hilly areas.

I think its well worth it.. if you keep an eye out, theres a guy on ebay that sells it for $135 with free shipping

The cargo cover is great and definitely worth the cost. I would never park anywhere without it.

I keep it there for when we may stop for sandwiches or pizza etc... better alternative than soda. 6 or so bottles always at the ready.

Get the cargo cover. It is better engineered than other covers that I've seen. A recommended accessory.

I too vote for the cargo cover. Besides covering up your stuff, I like the way its attached to the rear door. After a year, it still works like its supposed to, and we have only disconnected it a couple times when we had a big parcel back there.

Does anyone know if the cargo cover for 2013-2015 models will fit the 2016 cx5 model? The part number is the same except the 2016 model has an "A" after the KD33-V1-350 whereas the 2013-2015 cover has no "A". Please help.
