Retiring from Antenna Business

Guys and girls it has come time for me to retire form making custom antennas for the Pro5. I'll be finishing up all my open orders and then I'll be done. I will still make a few here and there to raffle off and sell at meets, but I will not be taking anymore orders over the forum or through my website which should be deleted soon if not already. Before everyone gets all teary-eyed and starts snifling...I'm going to talk to Dave B and see if he would like to show you guys what he has been working on. He truely does amazing work....keep your eye out for it.

Well thats bad news!

Now i will really have to secure the one i have in case someone DOES try to steal it.

Thanks for the great job!:D

oh daveB.... what have you been working on for us now? :)

tell us now or else (guns)

:D can't wait to see, tell us, tell us

you know at the DFW meet my wife looked at all the p5s and said, honey how come everyone elses antenna is short?

Xelderx good while it lasted..
I'm happy i got mine before your retirement...the antenna was great..
Out of curiousity i wonder how much you made off all those antennas??
Haha take care and thnx again

sweet, i barely made the cut :D

so... how does one keep a rare antenna from being stolen?

Hey xelderx,

Sorry to hear you are retiring, you made such good stuff! Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of the antenna I made. It was made out of 303 Stainless Steel, I could not find a piece of aluminum under 2 inch in diameter when I made these so I thought I would try it out of Stainless. As you can see I milled flats on both sides and engraved the Protege5 logo also on both sides. This was going to be a one time thing because I did not want to infringe on Justin's business. But if there is anyone who would like one I will look into making more. I could make them out of Alum. or Stainless. I could see into the power coating also. Maybe even engrave a couple after power coating to see if that looks good. If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to all of them. You know this will probably cut into some of my rings business. LOL

Damn! That thing is awesome! I'd be interested in a DaveB Antenna/Rings combo pack if the price was right. Keep us up to date if you're going to make them aluminum and/or powdercoated.

yay... now make some for sedans dammit
hehe
i would actually like to shave my antenna, but i dont want to mess with the beautiful body, since it would almost be inreversible, i would want something small really small and brushed aluminum. sort of like the shortys for the p5.. if you catch my drift

justin,

i enjoy your little stub antenna very much. although i have been made fun of for having an antenna that looks like a vibrator, i still proudly display it on my car. thank you for putting out such a great product. i hope your next adventure will continue in the veins of the protege line.

quick question for dave... is there any quick way to add a ferrousmagnetic core of coating at all into or onto the antenna? thanks.

I have been wanting to get a xelderx anttenna for a while now, just havent gotten around to it. Well, It seems everything happens for a reason. That anttena is just plain SWEET. Let me know how much for a black powdercoated, with the logo engraved and the money will be on the way!!!! (along with the second set of rings that I still need to send back to ya!)

I have Justin's medium antenna and love it...but I also worry about it being stolen. I don't think I can weld it though. I was thinking of getting a back-up one just in case. Well....DaveB?? Also, DaveB, I was wondering if you could make a shorty antenna for my 1990 Miata. Mine does not retract and sticks up about 3 feet. It does unscrew so maybe you could make one that is only a foot high?? Let me know if you are game.
