Replacing Cabin Filter & Trans. Oil

Have spotted the cabin filter in a kind of plastic tray below and under the glove box. Have asked before, but can't figure out how to remove and replace this filter. Don't want to pay $70.00 to the authorized dealer for this filter change. What is the trick for getting the filter out?

Also, does 30,000 miles sound right for transmission fluid drain/refill? In the owner's manual it merely directs to inspect and change as needed.

if your tranny fluid still looks nice and pink and clean...leave it till it needs to be changed. Not sure on that air filter...get back to you later on that one

changing transmission fluid-cx-7

Be sure to change the cx-7 transmission fluid at no more than 30,000 miles. Mine was noticeably dirty when changed today. My non-dealer mechanic says change every 20,000 miles is a good and inexpensive way to maintain your vehicle. Paid $120.00 incl. tax to change oil/trans. fluid.Amazingly, Mazda has no official service interval for this.3000 mile oil/cartridge changes are also a good rule of thumb. Cheap insurance to help prolong the life of the engine.

Looking for info on the cabin filter... anyone know how to remove the filter and where to buy a new one. Nelson Mazda wants freakin $53 for the filter... so naturally I want to do it myself.

CAbin Air Filter

I have the factory service manual and it says to squeeze in the two sides of the glove box plastic to get past the pins so the box lid will fold down. the grey plastic cover over the filter just snaps off. Use a screw driver or just pull on the top edge. Filter just slides out and in. Make note of arrow direction on filter edge. It should point down.
