Replaced CX-5 Turbo’s Spark Plugs

…at 40,700 miles, as per owner’s manual.
The tips look like they could have gone one heck of a lot longer/further, but I suppose there’s a concern that the ceramic insulator is the weak point.

the iridium tip usually shortens/degrades faster with the turbo cx5 then mpg may start to suffer, misfires, etc. 40-50k is the avg lifespan in those. Mazda is a bit conservative but thats good. given its about 120$ for 40,00 miles not bad.
Thank you for the pictures.

I appreciate the fact that you did it yourself. It irritates me that so many car owners are too lazy/inept to perform even the most basic tasks related to vehicle maintenance (including washing).

Thanks! I just can’t bring myself to pay someone for work that I can easily do myself in my garage.

I got NGKs from Advance Auto. With discount code, the total was less than $70.00.
The part number on Mazda OEM spark plug for the 2.5T is PY8V-18-110. I was wondering if the Mazda OEM plugs you removed have the “NGK” and “DILKAR7M8” imprint on the ceramic insulator?

Suggestion.

Print out copies of your pictures and put them in glove compartment. Also photocopy your receipt on real paper as store receipts now fade after a few weeks.

Then you have proof of spark plug change should any problems with engine arise during warranty period. At the rate thing are going, it seems any and all companies try to use any reason possible to deny claims.
