Removing Swaybar

Does anyone here know step by step way to remove the rear swaybar to place tape under the bushings to stop the clunk in the trunk? Do I need to jack up car? I did search but no luck.

Any help would be great, my dealer has a 3 week waiting list and I am sick of hearing the noises.

THANKS

:(

take out the 4 bolts that hold the bushings in then when those are out swing the bar down take sand paper and clean up the bar and the brackets. also lube the hell out of the bushing when reinstalling!

DO I NEED TO JACK THE CAR UP? OR IS THERE NO PRESSURE ON SWAYBAR?

THANKS FOR THE HELP,

ONCE I LEARN THIS INFO I CAN DO IT.

You can use some ramps and back the rear end over it. Safer then jacks and if you do use jacks make sure you use some stands... safety is everything... what takes 2 minutes out of your time can give you a lifetime....

There shouldn't be any tension on the bar, the only time there is pressure is when the car starts to sway that pressure is applied. Make sure you grease the s*** out of it before you install them back that helps alot. AS for taping it? dunno how long that's going to last but maybe get some gasket maker or something and that will seal it alot better.... just a thought... and no I haven't done it....

There is ALWAYS suspension load on the rear bar when its sitting.

You should finger tighten everything back up on stands and jacks, then put the car on the ground and roll it back and forth a few times to get it to settle in good, then torque them to spec.

You can use ramps also, just roll it around first, although I prefer to do it on the ground.

Tightening things up while its in the air and unloaded will lead to possible bushing tension and bushing wind up, you can preload the bushings and a bunch of other things that will lead to some very unpleasant handling characteristics.

Believe me, if you have any doubt that there is force on the bar, just wait until you try to reinstall the end links :)
