Removing Dash/Radio Bezel

How do I get the radio bezel off? I have it popped loose, but the A/C controls are keeping it where it is. I'm afraid to pull it to hard, I don't want to break something. I am trying to get the radio out so I can check the cables in the back. I think my Sub cable came loose. I also want to plug in an iPod cable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

you have to unclip the A/C controls. one is sort of against the firewall on the passengers side, one is inside the console, its just under the steering column in the center console, youll see it if youre under the dash in the drivers side facing the passenger side door.

Im trying to get the radio out. I can't figure out how to get the damn thing out. I don't see the holes to use the DIN tool. This isnt the stock radio that came in the MSP. It was put in by the previous owner. I assume it was installed by Mazda, it was paid for by their insurance. It looks like the stock install kit. I will post some pics soon.

once you get the surround off, it just slides out. the only time ive had to use removal tools is if i want to keep the surround trim on... and once i learned how to take off the surround, i never bothered with the keys again. more of a pain then its worth.

Here are a couple pictures of what it looks like. I dont think I can even use the DIN tools with this one. The only reason i need to pull it out is I think the Sub cables came loose. I also want to hook up a cable for my iPod.

The door is down on the storage area.

each manufacturer has their own DIN tools, im sure if you have the correct ones it comes out fairly easily.

but again - just take the radio bezel off and you can remove the whole HU.

mine were screwed up once, but its not hard to fix. once you learn how to do it the first time, you wont be afraid to go back there anymore. i took my bezel off at least a good 6-8 times.
