There are of people here that all they care about is number of posts. I think removing the post count is a good thing and it might eliminate a lot of the useless posts. Join date is OK.
Don't bother removing it... I've seen it removed in other forums.. and a LOT of people will complain, and it will eventually come back. Then everyone will start out fresh with zero posts, which will make even more people complain. Just leave it the way it is.. trust me. If people make pointless posts, single them out and tell them to stop.
i dont care, but i thikn keeping it is more benficial for things like buying from other members. i dont like to buy things from people who barely visit the forum. post count is how you determine how much they visit. join date means nothing because some people join and never post.
I think it'd be awesome to have a sort of 'Intelligence' #. I mean something like everytime a mod has to move a thread of yours or delete one of your posts for stupidity/inflammatory remarks then your number would go down. The idea being that no one really enjoys being 'called' a dumbass so they might start to post things in the correct sections and not make ignorant ass remarks to inflame others (more designed for the wrong section part as most of the jackasses who make comments have left/been forced to leave). post count doesn't say much other than someone sits on the forum fielding repetitive questions and double posts or with their join date you can see they've been helping people for awhile. I couldn't care less about post counts for the most part; keep 'em.
edit: we could also do away with the MSP audio/electronics and MSP tires/rims sections, they are inherently the same issues as most any other protege. that way knowledgable people on the board won't need to attempt to 'cover' two different sections that are asking the same questions. or for the MSPs that are afraid to leave the MSP section flow the MSP tires/rims section into the general but still have a link in the MSP section, same with car audio...
PhreakMP5. Im with you on the MSP people needing subsections out of fear to venture out. It just asking for the same topics to be covered over and over.
If we deleted post counts, i would have to hide in my closet out of fear of people hunting me down. me made it where the count doesn't go up in off topic and flamewars and such..
i'm not real opinionated on this, but could we change it so the post count just appears in the user profile, so you have to look for it if you really want to know/care.
