I just called five dealers within ~40 miles of me for quotes on the OEM 2010 remote starter. Quotes I got:
$493.33 (tax not included)
$613.95 (tax not included)
$780.00 (tax not included)
$818.95 (tax not included)
$819.67 (tax included - out the door)
Everyone wanted about the same price for the parts - $370 - $390, but there was a huge variation in the labor - from $100 to $450. Any idea how this could be? The most expensive quote, the service rep said they just went out and asked a technician, the tech ballparked about 4 hours to install so they came back with the $450 price.
I setup an appointment for the dealer with the lowest quote $493.33 - they only said $100 in labor. I called back the next day and spoke with someone else, asked them to double check the quote, mentioned how much more everyone else was charging - they stuck behind their $100 in labor quote. They insist its the Mazda OEM one, I was very clear about that and the part number they rattled off matched what I found online. Still makes me suspicious why their price is so low.. I'm new to the area so I've never brought my car to any of these dealers for service, the reviews of this place online seem OK - its in a rural part of town and about as far away as I'm willing to drive.
