I would like to relocate my maf to the cold pipe and I was wondering where does the sensor that goes directly plugged into the cai go when it gets moved? Any answers wound be greatly appreciated.

the Intake temp sensor? You can just let it dangle in the engine bay....it doesnt do anything lol Thats where mine is.

Should be a bit smoother...especially if you want to run new IC piping and not run a recirculated bov

Lol yea tell me about it, will it help the hesitation abit or I need the piggyback..

Should help. I'm running a custom "ebay" FMIC kit, relocated MAF and vented BOV and it runs flawless. No hesitation.

The PCM still uses the IAT to adjust timing maps. At least, that's how most cars work. I don't think anyone here knows the Protege PCM well enough to know for sure what all tables it affects. Dangling in the engine bay is probably pretty close to the temperature of the air the car is sucking in, unless you have an Injen or similar intake that is truly separated from the engine bay air, in which case you might run a little less advanced spark which isn't necessarily a bad thing in this car.
It shouldn't really help with hesitation since that is a function of the PCM. It may recover quicker by the more accurate MAF signal a blow through setup creates, but the real cause of the hesitation can only be eliminated with some sort of engine management.

I have my IAT just hanging in the engine bay as well, if you unplug it you get a P0113 I believe so just leave it on. I have my MAF on the coldpipe and I love it, only have an HKS V2 though, not a dual setup.

Now I have a question is compression surge a feeling or a sound? I get this bounceing around sometimes when I accelerate and let off then accelerate but if I let off the gass and through her in nuetral she stalls for a second. I noticed this even more when I changed my bpv to one with a larger orfice compared to stock

if you relocate the maf there is no need for a dual setup

my IAT has been dangling since 07, not problems at all

Dangling the ait is okay but its better served reading your intake temp not your engine bay temp this is only true if you have upgraded your intake. That ait is pretty accruate I have mine hooked to the cold pipe.

its just a small hole just drill one and put it in there obviously you;ll be cutting your cold pipe so who cares about putting a small hole in there??
