reflash. will i feel the diff in my butt dyno?

dropped my car off for the radio TSB. i had a "clunk" the other day at startup, and my mind felt less power. i just put a note in the service thing, and they said, they reflashed my car. i searched. what exactly does that mean? driving home, my turbo boost was way more noticeable.

I'm not positive, but I'd assume that means they 'flashed' the firmware on your ECU (engine control unit), which may have been to a new version. Or they might've reflashed it to the one it came from the factory with. The automotive equivalent of reinstalling windows, effectively.

Does the 08.5 play with the boost compared to the 08? You might've just gotten the newer firmware. Or it's just the placebo effect.

I had my radio replaced for the volume issue but there was no reflash required, do you know what they did the reflash for? I've heard some reports of the engine feeling different after a reflash but it should go back to normal or you get used to it after a while.

i thought only the 08.5's had issues with the bass on the bose stereo? didnt even know there was a TSB out for 08. what exactly was wrong with your stereo? i havent had any problems with mine until out of the blue when i was driving home last week, blasting down my road with the music pretty loud (but not in the 34-35 range where the 08.5's have issues) and i pushed the clutch in to downshift and make a turn. as soon as i hit the clutch, the sound just died, and stayed at a low volume until i messed with the volume knob. never had that happen again tho.

at the time i had attributed it to a malfunction in the feature that raises or lowers the volume of the radio automatically depending on your speed, but maybe that wasnt the issue and was actually related to this TSB.

my car is a 08.5, without the BOSE system. it would flip the bass on/off at will. i could re-create the affect by flipping the volume from 34 to 35. the bass would pop on @ 35.

the day before the appointment. i heard/felt a clunk, and my car just felt sluggish. i made a note on the sheet with my early bird drop off. i told them to investigate. they noticed a reflash memo or something and just did it, since they had my car. it may be the placebo affect, but my car feels peppy again.

I had the exact same stereo issue which was replaced but theyve told me a couple times though that there arent any reflashes for my car or not any that they would do unless I was expressing the symptoms for the fuel pump tsb. Thats why I'm wondering what it was for.

I actually have to take mine in to get checked because for some odd reason whenever I hit the air vents to the floor the ac comes on, regardless if the AC button is pushed or not.

ah, i saw it said 08 not 08.5 in your sig, thus the confusion.

my 08.5 got the reflash a few months ago... when I left the dealership till now I would say it felt no different than it did when I purchased it.

I think thats normal... My 2008 turns on the A/C at full blast with defrost...though you can then turn it off and lower it.
My A/C does a bunch of crazy automatic stuff... (lol2)

Its normal if you hit auto or floor vent with defrost, it runs the ac compressor to defrost but just the regular floor only vent runs the ac compressor?
