Red-stripe In-Dash GPS Installed!

ok finally got home this evening and installed everything. this thing is great. Uber cool. Just one probelm and either I am doing something wrong or I am missing a file on the sd card. BUT HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET ROUTE66 to work???? LOL When I put in the sd card it went to finean but won't initialize the maps?

any help would be appreciated, I am leaving Friday morning for a trip and would love to use my new toy.

sure, when you open the Nav screen, you have the option to browse for a file. Hit browse and go up in the folder levels until you see the Route66 folder. They are BOTH on the card but it defaults to the Finean. Just browse, go to the top level and you should see it.
The website, and other reviews all neglect to go into more detail about the standard AUX option. I'm very interested in this piece, and it will be a make or break deal for me.

So what type of AUX in is available, if you go with the standard AUX option and NOT the ipod option.

Is it RCA, 3 cable input, L/R and Video?

Or 3.5mm audio? No video?

I want to assume the former, since you mentioned your iphone Rev boost gauge...
Sorry, should have explained that better. Yes, the other option it comes with is a standard Aux input which gives you the normal 3 RCA cables to plug into. So you can output video along with audio if your device supports it. In my case, I bought the Composite Video cable for the iphone so I can output my iPhone audio and video (or apps) onto the screen. Obviously you can also opt to just do a standard RCA-to-3.5mm headphone plug as well, similar to stock.

If at all possible could you take a few pics of going through the browse menu to find that file.

thanks.
here is a few pics from my iphone....

I can find the exe file to run finean, but when it loads, it says I have to register the maps.

when I found the Route66 folder it seems to be empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It wouldn't be that bad if I could get finean to work but it wants me to register the maps????? Not sure how to do that at all.

They do not give you registered maps for Finean, you just have to say OK and use it unregistered.

The voice on Finean cuts out for me if I'm listening to audio. I'll be listening to the radio and it will cut off, then "At the next light, turn le" and the radio will kick on again. Route 66 is just better anyway.

Here is what I did with the AUX install: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123740825

Edit: The cable is actually a single video out and 3.5mm audio. I simply used some converters for the 3.5mm jack to RCA audio. Works just fine.

Your AUX cable only had a 3.5mm jack? Mine was the normal 3 RCA...?

Yes, my white cable that replaces the iPod adapter has a 3.5mm male audio and an RCA video. The video out for a rear panel has the 3 RCAs.

I dunno, it all works the same with an adapter.

wow, crazy. Wonder what other people have got in with theirs. I finally got the TOMTOM maps working, that's a bit of a process...
So far I can't say that they are better or worse than Route 66... BUT the ability to add custom voices and pointers/cars is cool...making a mazdaspeed 3 pointer for mine

DUDE you have to make a "how to" PLEASE!!! I tired the the example on gps underground but couldn't get it to work.

Odd that there are differences. But thanks for the info guys.

Curious, with both your setups, what happens to the AUX port in the console then? Is it now inactive. Does it still work, or does the AUX in from the headunit override it?

Edit: Tyrdstorm, I saw your thread, you removed your OEM AUX port. But before that, did it still work?

I never tried using it, but I don't think it works since it has it's own inputs for the AUX connection. That is why I didn't feel bad about losing the current 3.5mm AUX audio input in the console. If you look at my other thread you can see a little hole I made above the RCAs. I was going to put the old connector in there, however I haven't had time to get around to it.

I've been using TomTom on my PDA, and I made my own MS3 car symbol too.

^^^ Nice.

Anyone else get the rear camera?? I tried hooking mine up last night but I don't think I did it correctly. I plugged into the 1 rear cam jack on the units harness. Then I found a ground and a 12v source, but couldn't find where to activate the camera on the MZ3D?????

I am not the greatest at car electronics so Im not sure If I did something wrong or not.

Keith,

Let me know if you find an answer, i'm getting a camera too and I would appreciate any help, also are you connecting the camera so It would work when you put the car in R ?

Well I tried tapping into the signal for the reverse lights so that the camera would only power up when the car goes into reverse...but Im not sure if I did it right cause I couldn't find where on the unit to access the rear camera.

I can't be sure, but I believe its supposed to simply pop up on screen when you go into reverse. Read that somewhere...will see if I can find it. I also thought about adding it....I mean for 25 bucks, why not.
