rear windshield wiper

i was able to take the blade off, but was wondering if we can put a bosch replacement on it or do we have to order a oem from mazda cause the oem is a fail.

I replaced my rear wiper blade a few months back. Went to Discount Auto and purchased two rubber blades for $3 - $5 and cut it to length. Slipped them on the OEM wiper and I've been enjoying clean wipes ever since. Cheap investment and it took a few minutes to do :)

I was dreading going to the dealer and spending money on a new wiper and blade. If you guys need pics, LMK.

I prefer to have mine since it comes in handy in Florida rainstorms :)

never had a problem with my rear wiping performance (not my ass).

i did replace the OEM blade with something i got from walmart and i did the cut-to-length just like hank3 said. cant remember if i left the metal strip in it or not

you could also rainX the rear window (as you should with all the other windows save the windshield) and that should help a little bit. not so much with dirt accumulation, but definitely rain

IIRC, I had to retain the metal strip to keep the rubber blade from being too flimsy.

mite make a trip to walmart, if not i will take it off. i also notice could i replace the arm that can except aftermarket blades?

yeah, just changed my rear wiper this weekend....after finding out that bosch,rain-x,duralast, etc. didn't work cause of the arms, i called the dealership and got it from them....i didn't want to mess around with trying to make something fit.

Yes, I found out the hard way that the auto parts store bought rear wipers will not fit our OE wiper arm, even though their parts catalogs say they will. Unfortunately I found out the even harder way when I broke my wiper arm and now the OE blade doesn't fit back in tightly, so I had to order a new arm and figured while I was at it, I'd order a new blade and a cabin air filter from www.onlinemazdaparts.com. The wiper arm is $29.74 and the blade is $12.70 and the cabin air filter was $26.94. Great prices. The moral of the story, don't change your rear wiper.

Rear Wiper Blade For Newer Mazda's

You don't have to go to the dealer and you don't have to mess with refill inserts on the new-style rear wiper blades. To my knowledge, there's only one aftermarket rear replacement but I found it and it works great: Trico Exact Fit Rear Integral Blade. It snaps right onto the special rear arm and looks like the factory original. You can get them online.

I dont know if its just me or not, but I actually like having the rear wiper. The rain we have had the last couple days, it has really proved its worth. Plus, Ive never had any issues with its performance either. It wipes clean and clear for me. :D
