Rear vent air temp

Now that the temp outside is dropping, I've had to start using the heater in my 5. It works great up front but I noticed the rear vents only blow cold air, no matter what temp the front vents are blowing. Is this normal? Are the rear vents for cooling only, no heat? I'd be nice to provide my 2 year old with some heat on cold mornings.

the rear seat vents are for cool air only (my 2010 includes a sticker above the vents stating as much), heat comes from under the front driver and passenger seats.

I believe the expression is "RTM" :)

seriously, Mazda messed up w/ this one; many assume rear vents would work the same as the fronts, but they do not. and really, how hard would it be to run the heating duct to the rear vents anyway?
fortunately the cabin is small and heats up pretty well.

When I had my 06, I had to put a couple of clip on fans in to keep the kids cool in the summer. But we never had a hard time keeping the kids warm in the winter. It doesn't bother me that my '10 will only blow cold air out in the rear. Plus, it will be one less thing that could go wrong. I had problems with the rear heater in my Nissan Pathfinder not blowing hot air all the time. Drove me nuts.

How can you miss the embedded label that reads something like "COOL AIR"? The manual doesn't even have to be consulted.
