2010 cx9 gt...rear black leather center seat leather dye is faded and the leather feels very thin compared to rest of seat. never been cleaned or had any chemicals on it. nobody has ever sat in the center seat. under warranty. took to dealer and says no warranty repair...pay 1100 to have seat fixed...no way.

anyone else had a problem. what do you think of dealer response. any idea what might have caused the leather to fade and to thin out...so to speak.

thanks for your quick post

I'll recheck mine, but AFAIK it's fine, especially considering I haven't conditioned them in the last 6 months and I have kids. :-)

BTW AFIAK the third row is made from black vinyl (reduce cost).

2nd row black leather...

The problem spot is in the second row...center section. Called dealer owner today...he got service manager who denied originally on phone and both said same thing again...not covered...claims wear was due to chemical cleaning agent...but car is daughters and she has never cleaned the car...much less the leather...other than a wash and vaccum. daughter says she remembers the spot starting to flake off about six months ago. going to see what another dealer says and local dealer in Paducah did say they would send a pic to Mazda to confirm...but that sounds like crap to me.

Does your daughter have kids who may have tracked something on the seat or did she carry something in the back seat that could have spilled? "Flaking off" seems pretty severe. Could have also been something that happened before she took delivery. Call Mazda Corporate if you don't get anywhere with the dealers. Maybe post the pict here and get some other opinions. Someone on the forums may have experienced the same issue. If they saw a pict it may click.

So I cleaned and conditioned the leather seats in the 9 today (did my 6 yesterday). Took about an hour. Gave me a chance to take a close look at the leather. Despite my kids best efforts the spills, sticky stuff and light scarring from feat, came off and the leather looks good.
