Rear Doors

hard to describe the location, but on the rear doors has anyone noticed a lever that has the word lock written on it. It is located near the latch where the door meets the body. Why is it there? what does it do?

child-lock.
when the trigger is locked the doors cannot be opened from the inside only outside.
and this is just the rear ones
