Only way I get anywhere near 29 mpg (us) is on long (flat) drives using cruise control at an average speed with no stop n' go's. Under those conditions, I can get 8.1 L / 100 kms (29.1 mpg using this conversion link http://www.convertworld.com/en/fuel-consumption/liters-per-100-km.html ). If I do city driving...stop n' go....red lights...no cruise...etc.....then I average over 10 L / 100 kms = 23 mpg.
