RE: MSP turbo setup

that's what I've heard as well, but do we have factual data??
If it where me, I'd use the MSP PCM. It may not be perfect, but it was programmed specifically for the MSP. Why would Mazda go through the trouble of reprogramming a computer if they could have just used the ES or P5?

Find out if it has been flashed, and if it hasn't, and you want a flashed PCM, trade with some one. I'm sure there are a few folks on this forum that would take a non-flashed unit. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I think it;s a good deal since it's coming with the msp ecu. $600 is not that much , labor will! unless you can do it yourself that will be an even better deal

Just wondering your thoughts about putting a complete MSP turbo system on an es. Is it worth? I'd be getting the turbo, manifold, all oil lines, oil cooler, down pipe, mid pipe, ecu, and I think that's about it. I'd be missing the IC and the air tubing. Do you think $600 is a good deal, only had 4,000 miles on it and is in good condition. Would I be better off keeping the es ecu or should I install the MSP one. Thought please? Your input will help the decision process. I'm looking at getting this early next week so please post your thoughts.

Its cool I apologize as well. I am just not so big on the flash, I think it is a weak fix on Mazda'a part, but I am glad it has worked for some including yourself.
I beleive the sedan and P5 have the same ECU they are both 130hp. I thought only the MSP and the MP3 had different ECUs. I know the MP3 ECU is unsafe when boosting, and that is why I will use the P5 ECU.
you realize with the P5 ECU you NEED an addition fuel pressure regulator to ensure proper fuel delivery...right? right?

most msp want to upgrade their IC anyways... just buy a frontmount kit and your set.

he knows. I am helping him do the msp conversion on his car.

I would think that the p5 ecu would not have the proper fuel delivery programmed into it, being that it was not made to have boost stock. I know the MSP ecu has a few problems but wouldnt you rather have the ecu with the right timing and so on. I am not so sure that the p5 ecu has that.

I wouldnt go for the flashed ecu. Isnt it true that you cant boost as high with the flashed ecu as you can with the unflashed ecu. Something about the fuel delivery, ect?

What's the deal with the P5 ECU and fuel pressure?

p5 ecu fuel delivery was not intended for boosted applications. thats why every kit uses either an FPR or some kind of fuel managment to ensure correct fuel delivery

KEEP YOUR FULL SIZED RADIATOR ! trust me, it'll be worth it. just get a front mount intercooler. why sacrifice cooling capabilities when you can just upgrade ? it'll be a lot better if you spend your money on a intercooler instead of having to either custom fab a mount or trade your full sized rad for the MSP rad and IC.

holly crap, I am surprised you didn't jump on that already ...
600 dollars is a steal ...
I think you should buy that sucer and run a front mount intercooler.
Run the stock ecu, till you get what everyone is saying about the msp ecu situated. Run a FMU, with high flow pump in the tank and live your life.

check out that link, there is a notepad on there with some links to a few turbo sites that I have visited. Some of them sell intercoolers .. The prices are not bad for most intercoolers.

If I was to wait to get the new flashed msp ecu in july, how would I go aobut getting one, and won't be expensive? Is there anything else besides the FPR and a high flow pump I'd need? I'm assuming one o2 sim to fool the es ecu.

Stuupid question - If I did go with the msp ecu would certian things still work like cruse control?
