I hit 1337 once. Yeah, I'm just that cool.

Seriously though, if anyone happens to know that drag coefficient of a protege, I can figure out the terminal velocity. It's a pretty simple equation.

Gay and the bi-curious?

Haha, you're so clever! You replaced "Fast" and "Furious" with "gay" and "bi-curious", right? Hahaha, that's funny, cause gay people suck, and so does that movie! Yup, demeaning a movie by associating it with gay people sure is clever, and not childish or moronic at all!

You're just so CLEVER!

Naa, I'm just making fun of the movie. I've got nothing against gays...this is America (at least, where I am lol), so you can do what you want. However, associating them with that movie IS kinda mean...I should probably stop doing that lmao.

That's the point I was trying to get across. And the movie completely does suck, I just have a problem with people saying that stuff is "gay" because they dont like it. You can probably see how that's a little demeaning.

Of course it did.

This thread is like an asshat electromagnet.

LMAO "my protege5 goes 130" oh but wait "my protege goes 132 HA!"

if you go 132 ur an idiot, or just plain suacidal :) (naughty)

ok i'll figure out the drag at school this week, it might take me a day. but don't forget it also depends on the weight of the vehicle, some of us have more than others so take and give.

HANDS DOWN!!! your the fastest protege5 on here (i think) (ughdance) you my man are on fire!!(flame)

ROFLMAO (rofl)

I saw your post and couldn't help putting up my pictures.

The P5's can do 130+ and are not drag limited before running out of oomph.

I live above 5000 feet elevation and have no problems obtaining criminal speeds. I just wish I could get around the governor that limits our cars at 132-134 mph.

I can be driving at 130 and while accelerating hit 132 then 134 BAM! I hit the speed governor. Yep the governor not the rev limiter, but the speed limiter. I keep the pedal to the floor and the car slowly coasts down to 130 and then power is delivered back to the motor and starts accelerating back up to 134 and BAM hit the govern again and power is turned off and I start coasting until I hit about 130 and the power starts up again and starts accelerating again. I have done this several times. I have done it in other P5's as well.

We have a Speed limiter in the ECU as well as an RPM rev limiter

Dang! 130 using cruise control!
That must be the secret limiter bypass function!

:D

I highly reccomend driving up to 130mph on an open road or track and then taking a photo of the guages. Hint: use both hands to steady the camera. ;)

It's the auto that is slowing you down by not staying in gear. Plus you have 4 spd auto right? The gearing is taller.
In 5 spd you'll have power in 4th but 5th is an overdrive gear so you'll be dead in the water. There's not enough torque to get past all that air.

Actually my cruise control only works up to 100mph. It won't hold the speed after that.

The picture taken with the cruise on was taken after Mazfest 2005 on I-10 between San Diego and El Centro. I was in 5th gear with the cruise on rolling at about 75 with 2 Mazda 6's on my tail. I have a 35mm camera and had two pictures left. So I rolled on the throttle and left the 6's. They are governed at 120. I never down shifted or the cruise light would have gone out when I hit the clutch. There isn't enough gearing to do 130 in 4th, you will hit the rev limiter at 7200 rpms

I have 121 lbs of torque so I do have the ability to get there in 5th gear.

So at 130 I took two pictures. One is blurry and this one is clear.

The little night picture I took when my car was new.

I never got my P5 over 90 mph....no need.

But my MPV has hit 118. This is where the limit for the MPV must be b/c I was building speed up to 118 and then it quit and started backing down.

Why go 118 in a MPV? My baby was sick and stopped breathing on the way to the E.R. Blame it on the pediatrician that caught the sickness after the 8th visit in two weeks. Anyway, baby was alright and the MPV stays between 70 and 85.

Glad shes fine (thumb)

Back to topic, if your car is fast enough to go 100 then its a good speed :)
