Rally2003's Build Thread

That's right, and you have it at the stiffest you can possibly go (and then some). You should have plenty of rotation in the rear. Possibly more than you'll want with the added grip in the front.

I might have to back the endlinks down the bar a little to help it rotate less. Sounds kinda funny when someone says they don't want the rear end of their FWD car to rotate so much in the turns. I wish on Forza or GT you could put the tire size combo of 275F and 245R and whip it around a tight curvey track.

You can on Forza. You have individual tire size selections... as long as it'll let you go up to 275. I don't drive my Protege much on there so I don't remember what's available.

If I remember right, I think it will only go up to a 245. I'll have to check it out in a bit.

So Forza was no help, but CR3 was :)
Priced out some 17x9 Enkei RPF1's for the front thanks to CR3 motorsports and will hopefully be getting those within the next couple weeks. I decided that for now I'm going to sell my 225/50/16x7 to make room for 245/40/17x9's in the front. This way I don't have to worry about hitting the frame rail when turning to full lock and I can get started on my little fender project and later try to fit some meaty 275's under her. The only detail I have to pay attention to is that a 245 will strech minimal on a 9" wide wheel where as a 275 will bulge a little. Will have to give the fender a little extra tolerance when fabbing. I'll most likely have to make side skirts amd a new front bumper too because of the drastic change in fender design. I'm going to mock it all up fisrt before getting carried away with all the work. I'll be gathering supplies over the next couple weeks.

Must... get... warmer... out. With the wind chill the temp is in the single digits. The resin for a small part would take all winter to fully cure at that rate :( The little wire tuck and reposition is almost done. Just waiting on a little bit more $$$ for the wheels and really debating if I want to go with 275's or 245's. 245's will fit with no problem with the new fender design, but I really want 275's for the overkill grip and crazy look. The problem is when getting close to lock it will rub the frame rail. If necessary I might have to buck up and purchase the Hoosier A6's that have a 275/35/17 so it dosen't make the tire a little tire.

well how often in autox do you use full lock though? I don't remember going that far but, that's the only course I've run.

I don't think I've ever been at full lock in a race, only when in the grid when lining the car up with the others and going around to paddock area. Mainly walking speed.

Do you need 275 series tires with 200whp?

I should have close to 300whp at the end of the year hopefully and to keep more traction to brake later, carry more speed, accelerate sooner in the turns. What size tires do they use in Contenital tire series on the MS3?

^Nevermind I found it. They run 225/45/17. For some reason I thought they were wider, at least they look wider in person.

aac front bbk? :p

They don't even show that on their website any more. My porterfield pads are more than enough stopping power right now. I don't know if I've ever locked them up during an event. I might have to get new rotors though. I think my right rear might be warped :(

If stock brake calipers/rotors are good enough for Mr. Brees they're good enough me. ;)

That and tires make a bigger difference than the size of the brakes.

Good brakes and bad tires still make bad brakes.

But I think he likes his 15x8 wheels. ;)

Is that what Bill runs?

All this information is crazy to consider after reading different article on the internet and taking into consideration of what other people are using for wheel tire combinations for autoX. I might have to hold off on the 275 idea and try running 245's in the front and 225's in the rear. The question is then to run 16's (245/45/16x8) or 17's (245/40/17x8)? The wheel/tire combo's weigh almost the same, but with a 17" there is less sidewall and I think would have more lateral support. I'm still planning on making all the cf body panels to help shave lbs to help compete with those little civics. The stereo is coming out as well. I'll be losing close to 15lbs in total wheel weight, 20lbs in battery, and A LOT in body weight. I would love to slim her down to -2600 race weight.
