Rally2003's Build Thread

^Agreed and that is why I'm waiting until next spring. Falls in Ohio can be really nice or suck as and mother nature is on her period right now and can't decide between the two.

agreed, and hers is a few months long

The existing cooler is blocked pretty much from all air flow. Looks like I might try out the cooler idea for now and see how it works. After reading into it, the electric pump draws enough power to wear out the alternator pretty good. That is why the MR2 has a seperate ecu for the ps system. I'm going to have to make a box for it if I put it in the same location as Evan did, because I don't have fender liners. No biggie though. I honestly don't think this pump is bad and that it just blew out the sensor. I'm going to go to the jy sometime this week and just pull a sensor off another pump and see what happens. I won't get charged for that little senor :)

Love all the CF....good luck on the P/S pump issue, I agree that it sounds like a heat issue...maybe try a oil cooler from a JY and fabricate it to work with the P/S....but if it's a pressure issue, I'm not sure if your gonna be able to get around that...maybe a bigger pump and Just fab a mount for it....just trying to help out a bit

I purchased a PS cooler online yesterday and just waiting for it to come in. It is the same setup that Lewis7789 has but I'm putting it on a FS and not a KL.

Decided yesterday to go ahead and make some smaller cf parts for my Honda CBR250R for practice and a scoup for XCLR8TN for her Smart. I think the molds turned out great so far and just waiting for them to dry. Fiberglass is so much easier to work with than cf. If the fenders for me fail again in cf I'll just make the exterior parts of the panel cf and line the under hood portion with a seperate piece of cf, kevlar, of fiberglass. Wait and see this spring I guess.

This weather is crazy. Highs in the 70's this week and then highs in the 40's next week. Make up your mind and stop getting my hopes up :)

I hope mother nature gives us a mild winter like we had last year around our parts :) I won't complain about that

New PS cooler is installed. Just need to get some longer low pressure PS hose and have the system bled out again.

hey rally2003, how long have u been using the red top optima ?

i wanna get one, not sure if red top is enough if i run ac/heater, 6.2" dashboard GPS DVD player, and Dash camera? maybe listen to music with subwoofer on/off?

or should i use yellow top?

I installed the ps cooler the night before we did a fun run, but was behind on time to fill it and put the belt on so I waited until I was over there to fill it and hook it up. Went to tigten the belt and the tensioner bolt was missing for the ps bracket. So no ps. The fun run had great roads with changing elevations while turning. Almost s*** myself when I spun the car between 2 guard rails. For once I wish the car would have pushed, but it didn't and the back end slid out from under me. She'll probably be going to my parents house to sit in their garage over the winter while I take apart the body and see what kind of mess I can make :)

I bought the car with the red top in it and it was a year old battery when I got her back in 2007, so it is at least a six year old battery and has gave me no problems at all.

Wow I hate to school MAC's. I made a whole list on here of things I need to do and things I want to do. Then all the sudden it thought I didn't want to be logged in any more. So when I went to post it it said I didn't have permission and asked me to log on and erased everything I typed. So... I will further this list when I get home. Basically things I need to do is yearly upkeep with parts that I have and are just waiting to be installed and things I want to do are a lot of cf, some performance, and wider tires.

Don't you have carbon fenders now

Nope. The one that I made warped when doing a final coat out of the mold, most likely due to the harsh change in temperature when the resin was curing. I need to wait until there is a consistant temp at least around 60*-70* out. So almost all cf stuff will have to wait until next spring. I'll be making the fiberglass molds in the mean time.

Well the MSP has been at my parents house for the last 2 weeks. I've taken off the rad/fans, exhaust mani, and the turbo. The stock turbo looks likes it might get replaced next year depending on how bad it is when I completley take it off the mani. She has over 125k miles on her and is starting to leak a little oil. It is very minimal and there is a oilly residue in the turbine. Has a little shaft play. Might just end up selling the stock calliway and the turbo to help pay for a new one. I have to get rid of some other stuff as well.

I'll be replaceing the exhaust manifold studs and bolts and the might just have to wait on installing the pope dp until I get a new turbo. I guess I'll have to wait and see on the money and school situation. I still need to take off the rear swaybar and coilovers to adjust the endlinks down and get camber plates for the rear.
