Radio problems.

This had only happened twice since I got the 5, but when listening to a CD and then switching to the radio the radio will have no sound, either FM or AM. Turning it on and off dosn't fix it, but turning off the ignition and then turning it back on it works fine. So anyone else here have this problem, small but annoying when you can't pull over to shut off you car.

Nope, Im not experiencing anything serious like that. They might be able to reflash the unit, but I suspect a radio swap at the stealership might be in order.

Im experiencing a nuisance issue with mine, in Sirius Sat. mode, I set the unit to display the artists name, and it will frequently drop the selection and go back to displaying the channel number (the default). Usually happens if I change the channel or switch between radio modes. I have a feeling this glitch is in the Clarion SIRIUS tuner and not on Mazdas end, though.

I've had issues with a CD getting stuck in changer.

It would play all the way through the CD. Then it just stops, nothing happens. It's like the CD is jammed in the player, but I when I hit the "disk up" or "disk down" button, it works again.

The disk loads and ejects fine. It's the weirdest thing...

Anyone else having this issue?

I've not had issues with switching between radio and CD, but I have noticed that the CD player really does not like CD-RW media. I have a number of burnt CD's that play fine for a while, then suddenly the CD playere can't play the tracks until I stop playing CD's for 10-15 minutes

On the Protegs Mazda said the CD-player would play ONLY store-bought CDs, not home-burned versions. This may be the problem you are having.

I have had the same issue with my Mazda5 and was told that this issue must be fixed by completely replacing the stereo at a dealership.

Are you talking about the problem I posted or someone else in the threads problem. And if thats the case I have plenty of time to do that, its only got 2500 on it and hasn't given me any more problems. Maybe I can keep it until around 40,000 so I get a new stereo that will hopefully be better.

Chad:
I was specifically referencing the issue that you were having. Sorry that was not clearer. Trust me, though, it gets more and more frequent the longer you have the stereo. It happens to me once every 4-6 weeks, I just havent taken it in yet to replace it.

The only issue I've had is my CD player will forget how to play CD-R disks, usually when I shut off the player mid song. On restart it says "check CD" and ejects. I can put it back in and it plays fine. My thought is the cheap media I buy!

Do you have navigation ? If yes there is a switcher that can be bummed out...

If no to nav it is the head unit that needs replacing
